Move over Tencent. Saudi Arabia is taking over of gaming.

I hope not. I’m not really into many indie games. I think this EA deal is going to come crashing down honestly. They invested so much with the expectation that AI will take over and I think they are going to get a huge reality check.
It strikes me as a ludicrous overpayment.

Saudi cost cutting measures have begun. They just indefinitely suspended ESL's Impact League

Gotta try buying into (pop) culture if you can't make it yourself, huh.

Same goes for stand up comedy, right? Or sports events. The famous arabic army knife.
They have athletes and their national team is not terrible at soccer historically. Stand up comedy might be complicated for the local performers.

They must have the talent around. None of the Arabic movies i saw very actually terrible.
The Iranians make great films. Not the Saudis.

And if they have good athletes they rather conspicuously stay home during the Olympics or any major international commercial sporting events. 4 total medals in the history of the Summer Olympics for a nation of 35m is utter dogshit. Can't remember the last great athlete they had in a commercial sport, either.

Good pop culture does necessarily equal great movies.

I respect soccer over narrow skills like running in a straight line for x distance.

I'm not just talking about box office takes. I'm talking about critical regard: both of commercial and a more serious character. Saudi Arabia has no reputation in the cinematic world. None. Iran is highly respected.

Saudi Arabia is bad at soccer, too. They're bad at everything.

Wadjda was praised. I don't see it as terrible. There are Saudi Nflix movies and no Iranian ones.

Historically they are bad at soccer considering population size?

So 13 years ago there was a single Saudi movie that got nominated at the film festivals.

Check out a movie called A Separation. It's one of the greatest films ever made.

Opposed to what accomplishmetns of the Iranian industry? 1 Oscar.

Being a regular participants in the world cup getting out of the group once is far from terrible.

Know how many Saudi films make the cut for the Top 1000? Zero.
Know how many Saudi films have received a mention? One. The only one you could name, LOL. That's probably their only submission in the history of the Cannes.

Pathetic, dogshit cinema nation.
Being a regular participants in the world cup getting out of the group once is far from terrible.
LMFAO. They rank #67 based on ELO in the world as a nation. 4 medals in Olympic history. No champions or top athletes in any of the major global commercial sports.

Pathetic, dogshit athletes.

Saudis are garbage athletes. Laughable really.

That's why they pay big money to watch the top of the heap. To distract themselves from their mediocrity.

It strikes me as a ludicrous overpayment.
Silver Lake did 20 billion in loans debt (the rest done by Saudi who will bow to Silver Lake and EA they say). Now EA pulls in 7 billion annually if they can keep this up should be paid for in 3 to 4 years. Not too bad for Silver Lake but, right now banks have control of EA with Silver Lake going thru them.

Gotta try buying into (pop) culture if you can't make it yourself, huh.
That's my problem with this whole thing. It just feels shameless. Like don't they have any pride in their own culture? Sony does a good job of investing in places like China and India and helping developers with funding and in return they usually get exclusivity or timed exclusivity. Feels like there should be a much greater effort to develop local talent instead of buying everything up from foreign countries.

Are employees supposed to work for free or something? You're looking at revenue, not income.
