Yeah but at that time none of the games had Crossplay it's what people knew and expected. Nowadays if your fps doesn't have crossplay while all the others have it. It's kinda of a major weak point imo.

I honestly don't know anyone who cares and in fact if you look online plenty of people are complaining about it. PC players are huge cheaters and you can find xbox players being pissed about being forced to play with them.

The Cheating is huge huge issue I agree but even those games have a crossplay off option.

I can only speak from personal experience, it's more important for me to keep playing with my friends and alot of them are on PC. I can't imagine the guys that I know will buy a game if they find out they can't play with our regular buddies. We all know each other irl so the getting together and playing is the most important part.

I think many other people are in a similar situation more than you realise.

I'm not moving away from Sony no matter what so at least I have until 2023 till we get some clarity lol.

I'm not familiar with xbox but on the ps4 it's pretty easy to turn crossplay off on cod. I heard cod is the absolute worse when it comes to hacking. I've rarely encountered it on fortnite, don't know how common it is on rainbow six shield, valorant apex and all these other games.

Yea in those threads I mentioned Xbox players are pissed because PS players do have the option to disable it much easier then they do.

Rainbow doesn't have cross play. There's no auto aim for console so it would be impossible for console players to compete. The way leaning to the left and right is also different between PC and console so PC would just have a massive advantage without even needing hacks. Valorant isn't on consoles. Not sure about the other games.

The Nintendo Switch has outsold the PS5, PS4 Pro, and PS4 combined by a far greater margin than the PS5 has outsold the Xbox Series X/S since the PS5 launched despite that the Switch released in 2017.

Also this statement is incorrect. It is actually poorly written (edit).

Total sales are around 117m for PS4 gen consoles and Switch is almost at 102mil. Maybe by June/July of this year it will overtake PS4. But then you throw in the 13+ million PS5 and counting so they won't catch up to that overall total till at least the end of the year. If Sony resolves their PS5 production then it might be a different ballgame though.

So yeah that meme is still correct as of now.. lol

edit - Okay re-read and you meant "since the PS5 launched in Nov 2020". It was confusing since you mentioned the launch year for Switch and the meme is technically about total sales... You right then.. you right you right.

PS has always been a good performer for Sony, so I guess bad news for PS means people jump ship, but I think its just algos and hedgefunds that are manipulating the market since the drops and gains are in afterhours, where retail [or most of retail] cant trade.

Ofcourse MS dwarfs them but thats not the point. MS is a trillion dollar company so ofcourse theyve got other areas that generate huge cash flow. The point is that MS cant forester good games in house, and resorted to just buying content. Thats bad for the consumer in the long term. Good for Gamepass tho.

I thought in dollar cost terms that the PS was leading. Im sure if the shortage wasnt happening PS5 would be reigning. Ofcourse units moved would be much more for the switch since its sells for half or even a third of the PS5.

That's not really my point my issue the famous line "You cannot be master of everything". It's impossible in business to devote your resources across so many spaces. This is the reason why Apple has largely passed on entering the car market directly they where in talks with a number of car companies in rumors Stellantis, Hyundai heck even there was talk about Flextronics making the Apple car because of their interest in entering the market. Apple nearly a 3 trillion dollar company because the end of day it's about their dominance in 5 areas Mobile, content creations, sciences, media services, cloud services. They don't spend a serious amount of time or resources that is still in the millions or billions to divert from their core competence. Outside of mobile gaming they have really not seen much of a need to devote huge money developing a gaming console they leave that to Microsoft and Sony because they have such a huge lead already. Sony needs to get serious about the cloud and cross platform gaming and yes their optical panels are leaders because of decades of experience an research in that area but that much like Apple should be considered core competence.
