Microsoft is Buying Activision Blizzard $68.7B ***Update: Acquisition Finalized***

Yes I'm aware that you said bethesda was a supposed horrible precedent.. because you literally melted down in that thread, disputed obvious facts and started attacking people personally..

You're concern trolling is tiresome really.
One of the biggest Microsoft stans we have here is tired of hearing that his favorite company is doing some bad shit for the industry?

Shocking

I mean the irony of this post is astounding..

Are you suggesting you are not a fanboy of Sony ? You repeatedly get called out on it.. and have been previously banned from participating in threads as a result. I haven't..

Acquiring a crumbling corp with a despicable individual at the top of said company i.e Bobby Kotick, and clearing house, allowing studios to have creative freedom.. isn't a bad thing for the industry.

Forza Horizon 5 (92%), Halo Infinite (87%), Age of Empires (80+%), Pysconauts 2 (89%), Microsoft Flight Simulator (90+%)..

Forza and Pyschonauts were nominated for GOTY.

All of the above I have little to no interest in playing.

And all the DOZENS of studios Microsoft owns, those are their best games in an weak year for gaming like 2021?

Oh sure, a Microsoft-monopoly sounds awesome.

Any company currently in the gaming sphere buying a mega publisher is bad for the industry, no matter how bad that publisher currently is.

Mega publisher should be should have divestitures as part of the acquisition.

I mean what you want to play or have interest in is entirely subjective...

The fact is those games were critically acclaimed.. and successful.

I’m saying you dismissing valid arguments and playing whataboutism because it’s the company you support is tiresome.

Another walling off of a massive library of games that were accessible over decades is not good for gaming. Turning the industry into one large first party is not good for gaming. Limiting consumer choice is not good for gaming.

Legitimately go bite a curb if you don’t think my opinion, shared with tons of people in the industry and gamers alike today, is valid because I’m a PlayStation homer. I’ve owned every generation of Microsoft consoles outside of the Series X and sub to Game Pass.

This is a shit practice that is going to encourage more across the industry. It’s far from over.

Nope.. considering the state of Activision/Blizzard and how bobby kotick would stay on with the various studios floundering..

I mean what's the better option for that to continue ? Or a drastic change.

Financially Activision Blizzard is in perfectly fine shape. Bad management of various studios and IP aside they were only really floundering in optics.

There's no whataboutism.. you have a long track record of concern trolling which has resulted you in being banned from threads..if you didn't I might give more thought to your opinion.

I've responded to the various arguments presented in the thread, feel free to disagree..

I don't really see how finance really matters to us as consumers.. especially as most of that is entirely focused on COD.

Creatively, Activision has been floundering. There's a treasure trove of IPs at Activision that isn't being utilized..or even looked like it would be in the future. Now it may because of a drastic change in management..

I mean if you wanted Kotick to stay in charge and every studio in the company to remain shelved on COD, as a alternative to a acquisition.. I mean that's your view.

Banned by an overzealous shill and had all of them reversed.

You're arguing one point and dismissing anything else as trolling lol. You’re presenting Microsoft as some kind of savior now lol. Get real.

No shit.

No new franchises.

Guess if you like the same-old-shit, a Microsoft Monopoly is going to be great for you.

BTW, as a Microsoft fanboy, you didn't answer a question I posed in my first post of the thread -

"Of your Top 10 Favorite Games of the last 20 years, which ones were made directly under Microsoft's leadership?"

So go ahead, answer the question.

Not in any way, presenting Microsoft as a saviour..

It's abundantly obvious to anyone with a degree of objectivity that a change of management is better than the current corpse like state Activision/Blizzard is currently in.. something which is universally agreed upon, bobby kotick is a piece of shit and every studio in the company is forced to work on COD.

From the evidence so far, Xbox has handled their recent acquisitions well, gave them some level of independence creatively.. maybe A/B can benefit from that.

I mean you've got new franchises coming literally this year.. lmao. You call me a fanboy when you seem literally ignorant of any actual IPs which are coming.. and or pass them off as no "interest to you".

Starfield and Redfall for one.. numerous others have been announced as in development (Avowed, Contraband etc).

In regards to exclusive Xbox games which are in my favourites.. Forza Horizon 2, Gears 1/2, Halo 1/2/3 and honestly the infinite multiplayer is fantastic, Fable 2..

I'm know I'm in a small minority when I say I'd rather pay 60 to 70 dollars to support a great developer that I trust will bring their A game. This low-cost subscription service just doesn't appeal to me. You won't own it and the product will end up watered down. There's just no way in hell all these AAA devs will push out games like God of War regularly on that type of subscription service. Already got my pre-order down for Forbidden West. If games like this end up going away I'm done for good with gaming. A lot of people seem happy but for me this is shitty news and feels like an end of era. Even one of my favorite youtubers named Mystic seemed a bit down in his video. It's really a bad day to be a Sony fan. They're the only ones keeping me interested in gaming atm.

Height of the pandemic Blizzard reported a 40% loss in monthly active users and only 4 million dollars of revenue across all their IP's in a single quarter. Only Warzone and Candy Crush were doing well financially across the entire company.

Yes you are. They’re going to swoop in and save us all from Bobby all while further putting a stranglehold on consumer choice and creating massive exclusivity where it didn’t exist.

I think it’s abundantly obvious to anyone with a degree of objectivity that those things are not good for an industry.

And Jul to September 2021 they made 1.2 billion. Warzone alone in 12 months 1.8 billion.

"Massive exclusivity"..

Literally Xbox, PC, Cloud (which can be used on numerous devices).. what incredibly stringent exclusivity and lack of consumer choice.

COD will likely be multiplatform.. that's the only IP they make consistently under Kotick, so nothing changes for people in that regard.. if they do actually branch out creatively under Microsoft, my point will literally be proven lol.

Well, Sony will eventually go down a subscription route with the expansion of Spartacus.. it's inevitable..
