Microsoft acquires Zenimax Entertainment for $7.5 billion

Lmao, of course you’re taking the disingenuous everything is equal position.

You know exactly why this isn’t a good precedent. One giant company taking over giant publishers and putting up walls around the content is not the same as what Nintendo and Sony are doing. Not even close, you absolute dork.
KOTR timed exclusive.. Final Fantasy Fantasy and numerous other Square Enix property exclusive.. Marvel IP being locked behind the playstation platform.

Nintendo - Monster Hunter, Bayonetta..etc

In terms of the industry effect that you're feigning concern about, yes it is. At the end of the day, they're all hoarding exclusives in an attempt to funnel consumers down their path and get them to buy their product. Big publishers buying up third party developers big and small for the purpose of exclusivity, is nothing new.

I repeat, you're not fooling anyone. You're mad because this was a power play by a company not named Sony, and you're extra mad that all your idiotic, smug assertions throughout this entire thread about MS sharing the exclusives that they paid billions for, can't be argued anymore. Now go give your PS5 a hug and tell it that it's still your boy, and you'll love it no matter what.

All of those IP’s are multiplat.

What platforms can I play "Bayonetta 2" on?
Wii U and Switch, Bayonetta was on 360 and PS3, looks like the third will be only on Switch. Sega pulled funding and Nintendo saved the project so Platinum has stayed with them.

So again, the only apt comparison would be Nintendo buying Capcom and walling off any of their future titles.

I like how this argument has devolved into the most brain dead, surface level semantics. Yes, exclusive content exists.

We can’t possibly look at the new precedent being set because Bayonetta 2 is on Nintendo platforms.

Jfc

LOL, I could almost feel your lip quivering as I read that.

There is no "new" precedent. Third party developers being scooped up by the big three is nothing new.

Stay mad.

Oh' hey, when is "Bloodborne" coming to Xbox? Sony hanging onto that franchise is terrible for the industry.

Oof, the you mad shots coming.

This isn’t a dev, this is a publisher. Very few major publishers control the gaming landscape. If those start getting gobbled up by one company that is good, how?

I don’t think Bloodborne is. But Elden Ring will be released on every platform. Now again, the comparison you’d be looking for is Sony buying Bandai Namco (the publisher) and walling off their content.

I think you’re the last guy who should be talking about making another person’s “lips” quiver lol.

@Dizzy I understand that you think making popular games unavailable to gamers who are accustomed to having access to those series is shitty. I think it's pretty strange that you're pinning the lack of ethics on Microsoft (the company who makes consoles) rather than on Bethesda (the company who makes games). Obviously Bethesda knew what would happen when Microsoft owned all of their IP.

Was kind of a weird take but I think the pimp is worse than the whore.
No one forced them to sell and if they cared they could have negotiated a deal about their existing IPs. The ones who develop the games are the ones who could be construed as having some sort of obligation to continue delivering those games to their fans. I don't see how you could possibly act like a company who makes consoles has done something wrong by securing more exclusives for their consoles.

Do you think they would continue developing for those platforms if Microsoft let them? Because Microsoft has that choice. And as of a few months ago one of the most important figures at Bethesda thought that could be a possibility.

They threw tons of money at a publisher to attempt to force their way into relevancy again. Kinda sad imo.

I don’t blame someone for selling out to a soulless corporation like Microsoft, especially when there’s billions being thrown in their face.

Zeno max was on the market before Microsoft acquired them, previously they were in talks with EA. They were looking to sell and Microsoft had the money to buy, I don’t believe if their financial positions were reversed Sony wouldn’t have taken the opportunity

Don't worry

Bloodborne is terrible anyway.

That completely flies in the face of Sony’s long standing strategy.

Said =/= thought

Selling out (AKA giving up autonomy over your product) is less respectable than attempting to make your product more desirable than your competitions' imo
Most egregious shit said itt.
I assumed it was sarcasm
