Microsoft acquires Zenimax Entertainment for $7.5 billion

Starfield removed the PS5 logo from its official page.

Ahh, I was unaware.

I honestly dont mind if its exclusive or not. I would indeed want a reason to purchase an XBOX.

I haven’t looked into the game much but a scifi rpg is right up my ally.

From the various leaks and from what little Todd Howard has said.. it seems they're going for a more "grounded" sci-fi approach with Starfield.. akin to Interstellar.

"Traveling in space in our game, I want to say it's like flight in the '40s, like it's dangerous," said Howard. "It's still dangerous to go and explore, even though lots of people do it."

well, it's more about access to legacy titles rather than loyalty to the hardware.

If Bethesda and Co go exclusive, I'll just get Fallout/Elder Scrolls/Doom on PC. I'm not going to bother getting redundant devices that do the same thing except play two or three different titles here or there.

Taking multi-platform titles with decades of fan goodwill and making them exclusive annoys me. However, Sony and Halo developing their own shit and keeping it exclusive is fine by me (ie Halo, God of War, Gears of War, Forza, Gran Turismo etc).

Well you're in luck then because Bethesda hasn't made anything noteworthy or good since New Vegas, and that wasn't even them.

<{MingNope}>

Elder Scrolls might as well be labeled vaporware at this point and starfield is probably going to suck going by Bethesda recent track record.

As much as I loved Skyrim and even Fallout 4 to some extent, I do feel like Bethesda has some good will to make up with the general gaming community. Im hopeful they can turn things around after the debacle that is FO76 and waste of time and resources that is Elder Scrolls Blades.

It seems like anytime a game developing company turns into a publishing company, and are able to generate revenue without doing anything, they suffer on the creative side.

Wow. I had completely written xbox off until I saw this. Now I will have to rethink my position.

LOL at any of us living long enough to see its release.
I think this is the second time I've seen you confuse Starfield with Star Citizen.

The latter is the vaporware conjob. Starfield is Bethesda's new IP, and quite real.

No, this was more meant to be a jab at Bethesda in jest based on how long they take between releases. I wasn’t thinking of Star Citizen this time.

Edit: on second thought I think I was too focused on the Elder Scrolls series and how long it’s been since Skyrim and how far away TES 6 is according to Bethesda. I overlooked the fact that they’ve released both Fallout 4 and 76 in the last 6 years. I guess the joke doesn’t work as well as I’d hoped.

The joke definitely works for TES VI.

I think they've already made up for FO76. The people playing it now seem to like it quite a bit, and it's still going, so I don't know how much of an effect that will have on anything. It seems they addressed most of the complaints. The ES:Blades thing is just some mobile garbage, that I really don't think reaches any further than the mobile market. Console/PC gamers know what's up with that bullshit. Same with that "Vault" fallout game.

I think their biggest mistake, even though it was still decent, was "Fallout 4". That was the one game where they felt a little stuck in the mud, and didn't deliver the mind blowing product people had become accustomed to. I mean, that was supposed to be a game of a generation, like what came before, and it was just kind of "meh". It looked dated, had tons of performance issues, made some unwanted changes to the RPG mechanics, and just felt a bit like a glorified expansion to the franchise. It didn't blow anyone's mind, and I think most would agree was a bit of a letdown overall.
