Microsoft acquires Zenimax Entertainment for $7.5 billion

Pretty ballsy purchase, but there's no way TES6 and Fallout still won't end up Playstation.
Yeah, pretty interesting to see how many people are assuming all these huge franchises are suddenly exclusive to Microsoft.

What would that be? PC gamers are relatively not effected by this news. MS is pushing both PC and Xbox gaming. There won't be many(if any) Xbox console exclusives. All these games are coming to both. Sony is the only real loser in all this, and it remains to be seen how much they will be truly affected. I'm sure MS doesn't mind having a share of Sony's gaming library. As far as Steam goes, I'm sure they'll get the games. It's just that Game Pass is gonna chip away at the absolute sales market.
As long as i don't have to download load the MS equivalent of origins/uplay.

That's 100% deal breaker.

"Game Pass" is basically a glorified rental service, and isn't some stupid gimmicky bullshit like Uplay. It's just another option. I assume the sales services will remain untouched...for now. All depends on what direction the industry heads in. I believe services like GP are where the industry is headed, but it's nothing to worry about right now. You'll be fine with Steam for the foreseeable future, I think.

I mean, it’s already being reported that GameStop has almost no stock and it’s literally talked about in the article you posted lol.
Yea I know, just picking on you cause you’ve had a hard time today. I highly doubt Xbox pre orders will compare with ps5. Although if they do I’ll talk shit mercilessly if I remember and care enough to put in the effort.

I hope so.

If not that's it i guess....

My day has been fine. Looking forward to Doom and TES6 on my PS5 in a few years.

TES6 probably, given the whole bit about Bethesda continuing to self-publish going forward. But whether that also applies to id software titles, I don’t know.

We all talk a big game, but honestly, we'll all fall in line if it's a natural transition and not glaringly fucking people over. I mean shit, I was totally against services like GP infecting the industry just a short while ago. Throw me those AAA games for a song, and well, maybe it's not so bad after all. Doesn't help that the price of individual games have remained relatively high(and are looking to get even more expensive). Lower them prices to $25 bucks a pop, and maybe I'll be more inclined to purchase them, but as it stands, I can't argue with embarrassment of riches GP offers for a VERY reasonable fee.

Yeah that’s true. All good though. They’re still firing out DLC for Eternal. That’s a looooong time away.

At worst, they will be timed exclusive to Xbox/PC, but only a short period like a month, and there will be some exclusive content only available to Xbox, but that's about it. No way would they gimp their own sales by keeping it away from the biggest selling system. They didn't do it with Minecraft, they won't with TES.

Smaller titles will be Xbox/PC exclusive, but definitely not the bigger ones.

If it's not on steam, then I can't get it unfortunately.
As long as I can get it on steam and play it without having to create a ms account or have a desktop application running in the background then we're all good.

This video feels extra special now.

Lol yeah MS finally owns id and it only took 25 years since they wanted to buy them out back in '95 as doom was getting more attention than their own brand spanking new operating system.
