Are we supposed to like it when champions do everything they can to angle & pivot out of fighting the next contender up?
He talked up fights with Figgy, Yan and even an O'Malley rematch for months and tried to duck Umar until it was clear he had to fight him next.
Its prize fighting and the entire point is to make the most money.
Merab would be an absolute fool for not wanting to fight Figgy, who is an action fighter with a brand name that was fairly deserving of a title shot. Umar does not have a very busy or important strength of schedule and his fight will not sell well.
In a world where you can fight either of them next and you are paid out based on PPV buys, I too would campaign for the higher ROI.
