"Only a few hundred". Now "single digits" becomes "only a few hundred". Except that isn't right. A "few hundred" would suggest 200, but it was more than 500, and if we adjusted that for the population today, it would be over a thousand. But, hey, I'm sure suddenly you'd be singing, "It was only a few thousand."

Measles killed children: mostly those under the age of 5. Influenza couldn't be vaccinated as effectively for life, especially with just two doses, which is what most Americans receive, as it mutates annually, and is (like COVID) often the primary contributor to deaths in the elderly and diseased.

Which is why, if you stop to think that the unvaccinated make up less than 9% of our population, but ~90% of those contracting the disease, they are so overwhelmingly more likely to be the ones who will revive and spread the disease to others.

I think if over 95% get the shot twice in their lifetime, it would be sufficient to maintain the elimination of the disease as the CDC defined that in the post I made above.

Are you asking if the parents don't vaccinate, will they lose guardianship of their children? Nah. Some public schools won't let the children attend, but many states are giving out vaccine exemptions like doctors give out cannabis cards.

No one said doctors are infallible. Are you more comfortable trusting a lawyer to your medical decisions? As far as kickbacks you mentioned in another post. I would be completely fine with outlawing such arrangements completely. I would like to see pharmas influence over doctors erode significantly. I don’t think there would be a way to eliminate it completely though.

Doc thinks our doctors are gonna be the ones to make calls on which children get to be medically exempt. Obviously @DoctorTaco shows bias but my point dipped in hyperbole was meant to say doctors are some of the hardest for me to trust with that call.

It’s a tough situation in general. For stuff like that I’m fine with parents choosing. Just like anything education and understanding what is being presented is important. We’re very lucky to be living now where most of the current generations have been vaccinated. Which I think a lot of vax resistant parents count on. So a couple of isolated groups isn’t generally as big of a deal. If somehow the anti-vax mind set takes off we could see some real harm done in the future especially with at risk groups that can’t be vaccinated.

I generally let doctors make the call in most medical situations. They don’t tell me how to teach boxing or how to get stoned and argue politics on a karate forum, I’m not telling them how to do their job.

Not me, most doctors I've met don't have their patients best interest in mind. I worked in the medical field during the pandemic and my gf has over 20 years as well.
