Imagine all of the pro fighters out there wearing competition gloves that would be breaking their fingers in fights if they weren't protected by padding (again, usually an inner & outer layer of foam or other cushioning material). You're totally clueless.

Need I refer you to the video? You know? The one that you said you watched? Boxing gloves don’t protect that part of the hand like they do the knuckle. You tried it though.

These aren't MMA gloves. The fingers, knuckles, hand, palm and wrist are all padded/protected. Open up a Grant glove and take a look. But don't take my word for it.

Just rewatched it in slow motion. I'm now convinced that he totally played this up. I think Floyd milked it for all that it was worth to potentially try and get Maidana DQ'd. The Welsh guy you're talking about is Joe Calzaghe. He was a good fighter. But yeah, undefeated records aren't everything. They mean more at heavyweight than in any other weight class.

I don't know, I just don't see how. If it was that bad, why would he react by trying to rip maidanas teeth out? That would probably be a more natural reaction. I've been bitten before with no padding, not on my fingers though and by a woman and it really didn't hurt that bad but I had to go to the hospital to get it cleaned (it was a security job wise guys not an attempted anything weird).

He didn't have his mouthpiece in the second time he bit him which is when that chunk of his ear came off. There was also no direct contact between Maidana's teeth and Floyd's hand. When Mike bit Holyfield's ear there was.

A guy I know met Evander once and said he he could see there's a little bit of his ear missing.

I wouldn't be surprised if Floyd played it up, Floyd knew how to play the game well, but a bunch of dudes on the internet who have never competed in any sport, much less boxing, at that elite level calling a modern great a pussy is hilarious. For all his flaws, Floyd being "weak" isn't one of them.

I once had the inner seam of the glove go under my finger nail when I landed a punch during sparring. Thought my finger nail was going to get ripped off. It hurt a lot especially because it's just not the kind of pain you'd expect during boxing. I had to stop the session to tape my finger up and continued sparring but I guess I'm a pussy.
