Why not? winner fights for the title next.
max is damaged goods after ilia destroyed him
Max vs Chuck Liddell would be super lit
Charles agrees he should be next, he's just saying he isn't going to wait till October for islam, so if that's when Islam plans to fight, he'll stay busy in the meantime
Charles x Arman if there is going to be a forced title eliminator.
I'm fine with either one, but I think Charles vs. Max is the bigger fight. We just saw Charles vs. Arman.
Max is coming off a brutal knockout loss in a fight he was not competitive. Its fairly ridiculous his next fight is a title eliminator.
If there is to be a title eliminator, how in the world would he skip past Arman? Bad for the sport, we have enough problems with legitimacy.
Max is max. He's not going to be in a small fight,
especially when he holds the stupid BMF title.
He's basically the Robert whittaker of always being in the top 5 and always fighting top 5 guys.
If they book Charles vs. Max, I imagine that arman will fight someone else too in the meantime. ARman will have his chance to make his claim to the next shot still, so it wouldn't be guarenteed that charles vs. Max is for the next crack at the belt. If Max wins, it would be very clear that Arman would be next assuming arman wins a fight in the meantime, too.
Are you sure you just don't want to see charles and max ruin eachothers chins?
Not in a small fight != a lightweight title eliminator IMO
Hold on now... are we living in a world where getting knocked out dead means you retain a made up belt/title? How in the world does that work? You just decide when you do and do not want it to count?
The Nate Diaz invented belt in rankings discussions is the most meta shit
Not at lightweight. He's 1-1 in the division overall. The guy he beat is over ranked and we can run a highlight reel of JG getting stomped out.
History demands Islam face Arman, so we can determine who the best is of this generation. It would honestly be a travesty in the sport if we miss this opportunity, and Arman is also very rightfully the #1 contender.
I'm against any fights that present to deter that fight from happening. If a title eliminator must happen, it should be between the two contenders for the title shot, not a guy coming off a KO loss in another division.
IMO Max has absolute no chance of being lightweight champion and loses to all of them - Islam, Arman and Charles. Arguably he has the best shot against Charles.
If we are talking personal bias, I like Do Bronx the most of any lightweight and would like to see him champion. Ultimately I care more about seeing the best fights that make sense over my person likes, or at least thats what I tell myself ; )
Unfortunately, we do live in a world where max is still the BMF champ. That's why I called it stupid. I don't care how they match the guys up that much -- any fight with Max or charles is going to be good -- I just think them together would draw a ton of eyeballs.
Anyways, as a Do bronx fan, I'll share some information I heard from gilbert burns somewhere: apparently Charles was injured in the islam fight and the UFC knew about it too. I think that's part of the reason why the UFC is so willing to keep putting charles back in the title opportunity....because they owe him one.
I'd like to see Do bronx get one last shot before his age truly starts showing.
Is this related to Charles showing up to UAE late for that fight?
I remember there was a big controversy on why he had not left town yet ....
his last fight at LW was knockout of the year against a perennial top 5 LW.Max is coming off a brutal knockout loss in a fight he was not competitive. Its fairly ridiculous his next fight is a title eliminator.
If there is to be a title eliminator, how in the world would he skip past Arman? Bad for the sport, we have enough problems with legitimacy.
Dick Franklin agreesActually, the "way nicknames work" is that a person who is Charles is also Chuck, it's an auto-nickname. That makes it different.
I highly admire Charles David Lidell though, so we at least agree on that with some mutual admiration. Charlie was a hell of a fighter.
