Matt Brown.....a legend? Come on now....

A true legend. Was winning this fight too. Too bad his chin is not holding on that well, he would'v dispatched this new prospect.

lmao how is he a casual, and how is Matt Brown a legend?
For the second one - two actual UFC fighters giving him that label is enough to me. And a lot of us fans consider him a legend at this point. Maybe not unanimously, but most of us.

For the first one - a guy having the urge to instantly post a whole thread (not just post a comment somewhere) and having no arguments for what he is talking about, essentially writing nothing, is the reason

i do think he's a legendary brawler but not an MMA legend, if that makes sense. MMA legends are like world famous fighters, like Conor or GSP. while Matt Brown isn't world famous, in the MMA community he's famous for being in exciting brawls. it's practically his brand at this point.

So a journeyman = a legend? Hmmmm.. I guess Ross Pearson is a legend as well then, eh?
Somewhat. Don't get it twisted. There's levels to the shit. For instance Pearson doesn't have as many memorable fights and victories as Matt Brown. Didn't have as long of a win streak. Matt came much closer to a titleshot. Had more high profile fights. Matt has also been in the UFC organization exclusively for a while.

So overall, in the grand scheme Pearson is somewhat a legend, depending on who you are comparing him to. Compared to Matt Brown, he isn't on that level. Just as Brown isn't on the level of a Robbie Lawler for example.

But if I'm fairly new in the game, having a "legend" like Ross Pearson's name on my resume is good for me.

a guy who takes legendary ass whoopings
pls don't retire matt brown

matt brown bare knuckle vs sage northcutt
JUST CTE

How many MMA fighters are actually world famous though? I think you'd be pressed to find ten. MMA fans have our own world. Like you said he's certainly made his mark amongst the MMA community.

In other sports and entertainment forms, you have athletes who are considered legends who aren't world famous and really only known by people who follow said sport for a long time.

Does it really matter?
Ït was said on a broadcast during a fight on prelims..
Legend is a word that has no real meaning these days.

He is a legend. Some of you guys make your own "elite" definitions for everything. A legend in a sport is just someone who has been at it for a long time and made a decent name for themselves.

By that definition every major sport has hundreds if not thousands of legends.

Pretty strong word.

They do...but like I said in an earlier post, there's levels to it. Not all legends are created equal.

He is a jbg legend for sure. I guess he has one boring fight when Johnny H humped him for three rounds.

he's a legend for people who have been watching for awhile. has a ton of fights. won everyone money against Erick Silva. he's definitely a legend if cowboy is a legend
Fuck u! Didn’t earn me money!
Erick Silva is still my boi!

The only thing that grants him legendary status is when he trounced that chode Jeremy May during his season of TUF.

Both Baeza and Felder referred to Brown as a “legend” post-fight??

Perhaps this word is being thrown around too freely these days...

<{yearp}>

If any of you agree that Matt “17 losses” Brown is a legend, please enlighten everyone as to why...
I agree, commentators need to start using the word “veteran” more often and reserve legend for actual legendary fighters. It seems like everybody that has some degree of longevity is a legend these days.

Jeremy-Jitsu was a tool but remember the “Legend” Brown then lost to the “Great” Amir Sodallah...

Yea great matt brown is not ufc calibre smh lol. Matt brown beat stephen thompson, went the distance with prime Hendricks and won at least a round while going the distance with prime lawler. Brown knows he is past his prime and already retired this is likely a one off fight for him.

He beat a green Wonderboy in 2012. That's a dogs life ago. He's currently on a 3-6 run since 2014 and he's been stopped in 5 of those fights.

I'm glad you agree with me that Brown knows he doesn't belong in the UFC.

Brown is a fun but limited fighter with a journeymans record. His record speaks for itself. Nothing wrong with that, either. I'd prefer not to see him take anymore head trauma though, so I hope this next retirement is permanent.
