Matt Brown.....a legend? Come on now....

Both Baeza and Felder referred to Brown as a “legend” post-fight??

Perhaps this word is being thrown around too freely these days...

<{yearp}>

If any of you agree that Matt “17 losses” Brown is a legend, please enlighten everyone as to why...
Losses don’t define someone as a legend or not BUT you’re right Matt Brown is not a legend. He is a helluva fighter and I get that some kids coming up might be a bit in awe of him but again NOT a legend. He hasn’t won a championship or even been in the top ranks for his division consistently.

He’ll end up the joke called the UFC HOF.

TS trolling, getting everyone to admit Matt Brown is a legend.

Which he is.

Nobody believes you are actually that dumb TS.

The biggest thing was the turnaround in Matt Browns career.

Going from almost being cut to winning 7 in a row.

Truly amazing.

Brown is a warrior. One of the most entertaining fighters ever. I’m cool with calling him a legend.

I really like Matt Brown
His fights were entertaining, he was the just bleed type of fighter
I've seen a podcast with him and he seems a nice guy
But no, not a legend
A veteran and a decent fighter
He fought in UFC for 12 years, that's something
He had a nice run in UFC with that 7 fights winning streak

LOL if Matt Brown is a legend then the list of legends is countless. He's a respected veteran, that's about it

he's a legend for people who have been watching for awhile. has a ton of fights. won everyone money against Erick Silva. he's definitely a legend if cowboy is a legend

I've been watching about as long as anyone possibly could and I have never considered this guy a legend. HOF's should never be taken too seriously. He definitely doesn't qualify imo.

He is a legend. Some of you guys make your own "elite" definitions for everything. A legend in a sport is just someone who has been at it for a long time and made a decent name for themselves.

So a journeyman = a legend? Hmmmm.. I guess Ross Pearson is a legend as well then, eh?

The term legend is extremely overused in MMA. He's a veteran that's been around for a long time and once had a career resurgence but he's not a legend. Legends are guys like GSP, SIlva, Couture, etc. The only fighters who have never been UFC champion that could have that honor of being regarded as a legend would be someone like Overeem due to the longevity of his career, notable wins, and his K1 and Strikeforce titles.

It's a nicety.

Brown is a journeyman who was once tapped out 4 times in 5 fights. In his prime, he was able to put on showcase fights against guys who didn't really belong in the UFC. Against higher caliber talent, he was ALWAYS outmatched.

He doesn't belong on contract anymore, despite clearly still being game and willing. He is not a UFC caliber fighter and he should move on to greener pastures.

Personally I'd like to see him stop taking head trauma, but if he wants to stick around MMA a bit longer it should be against more appropriate competition in another org.
Yea great matt brown is not ufc calibre smh lol. Matt brown beat stephen thompson, went the distance with prime Hendricks and won at least a round while going the distance with prime lawler. Brown knows he is past his prime and already retired this is likely a one off fight for him.

Excon heroin junkie that made something of his life? Legends like that dont come around that often. Performance and records arent everything. Baffling how vulnerable he was to body shots.

I think in the sense that legend is used to represent the past, only Anderson Silva, GSP, and maybe Chuck Liddell will truly be considered legends due to their popularity and distinct impact on the sport

Fan favorite would of been the more accurate adjective to use

I don't know, it's subjective. Personally I think it's too strong of a word for Brown, though he is a solid fighter and veteran.

TS is casual
But I'll agree that this wasn't a veteran performance from Brown. He had to know that he is not as fast as when he was younger and definitely much slower than this kid... So he needed to get past the first and to push for more clinches and wresting... I don't know, it didn't look that he was prepared well. Just his old gameplan to get to the clinch and elbow his opponent, but a lot slower and lumbering and with worse chin.
lmao how is he a casual, and how is Matt Brown a legend?
