Massage or Chiropractor?

It really depends on the type of pain.

If it is sharp pains when going into certain ranges of motion, then go to a sports medicine doctor. One that works with athletes and actually understands the issues with the spine.

If it is general soreness, get a massage. A sports massage or Swedish.

Don't go deep tissue though. You'll end up not being able to walk for a week (or maybe I'm just old).

Ah man...do i have to go into the science (or should i say lack of science/efficacy) regarding this one as well!

I am offically becoming "that guy":icon_chee

yeah, but i'd rather be that guy then the guy paying a fortune for snake oil, quackery is a blight on society... chiropractors, homeopaths, acupuncturists etc should all be charged with fraud

THANK YOU!

one of the best posts i have read! Great post man!

Yes massage is great, but if it is anything beyond that...get your but to a sports medicine doctor...not just someone who through "magical thinking" it going to "un-obstruct the flow of innate intelligence" in your spine...

I could not agree with you more!

I don't see why such hate on for chiropractors.

I have a fused C-spine and my neck seizes up every 4 months or so. Last time I went, I walked in with zero range of motion in turning my head. I could barely get out of my car from not being able to tilt my head down.

When I left, I was fine.

I even asked the surgeon who operated on my neck after I broke it if chiropractors were ok and what his opinion of them was (the surgeon is a spine specialist, that's all he does). Even he suggested that, with my condition, I see one if I'm having problems with range of motion and stiffness.

I'm usually on the skeptical side of most things... I don't believe in miracles or magnetic bracelets and talking to plants... but I know I wasn't imagining the condition I walked out in.

Don't be hating on Chiropractors. They actually realign the bones. No mystical bullshit about it.

Really...man they must have "powers" to be able to do those sorts of things:icon_chee

Last time i check the only way that you can "realign" a bone is via orthopedic surgery (read as: with scalpes, saws, etc)...
But hey maybe you know something i do not
