I just meant in terms of accomplishments, and ignoring the progression of the sport. I think Marvin stayed ranked longer and actually fought for a title.

I also heard an interesting take that Marvin got the rub from the Fertittas because he’s Italian. Not sure how true that is. I think he was good enough to warrant his rank and TS.

Sure, Vettori was much more succesful than Sakara.
Oddly enough, Vettori's main strenght is durability imo, which happened to be Sakara's biggest shortcoming

I think Vettori deserved the tittle shot at that time, both because his winning streak including a W over Hermansson as well as the very close fight he had had with Izzy
Anyways, he further proved his case the fight after by taking on Costa at 205 and beating him

Rockhold lost to Bisping because of his overconfidence and arrogance. When he took Bisping seriously he dominated that fight. Rockhold walked forward with his hands down, anyone can be ko'd like that. Besides, Imavov isn't exactly heavy handed and he stopped Izzy. Bisping at least has over half of his wins via stoppage. Imavov has only 7 out of his 16 wins via tko. Bisping has 18 out of his 30 wins via tko.

Izzy had been taken down by Marvin Vettori in both fights, Robert Whittaker, Alex Pereira, DDP, Jan Blachowics (i did not spell that right lol), Kelvin Gastelum, and Rob Wilkonson. If all these men could get Izzy to the mat, why wouldn't Rockhold be able to? On top of that, Rockhold has world class grappling. In 2007 he won gold at purple belt for ibjjf. He just matches up well with Izzy. And losing out of your prime doesnt really say much. Rockhold retired after from MMA because he said he's old after the fight ended. Prime vs Prime, Rockhold beats Izzy.

Listen I ain't here to debate, I just want to say that EVERY division in the UFC needs a Marvin. He's a big dumb urakai with an absolute menace celestial body of a chin that just gets dunked on repeatedly. He's just a magnificent P.O.S when he gets bopped and shakes his head like it did not actually happen in real time and on television. You can't find that sort of nerve in many people, who just believe- contrary to any and all accumulated evidence- that they are in fact the best in the world. There's a long list of people that have taken Izzy down. There's no reason to believe Rockhold couldn't if all those other names did as well. Rockhold defeated a prime Weidman. and Souza has beaten names like belfort, kennedy, mousasi etc. With rockhold's grappling he submits izzy.

I hate watching Vettori fight, that was hands down the most entertaining fight he's ever had and it was mostly due to Allen's aggression.
