Kamaru and Colby were at the top of WW during its weakest years since the Pat Miletich days

it's crazy that Leon and colby were fighting for the title and in reality they were fringe top 5 WWs lol, Belal, brady, Shavkat, Buckley(could lose to leon), JDM were all better than those 2

Journeymen LWs like Jorge and Burns having 3 total title shots in a year span is even wilder lol

The level of fighter people were trying to paint Journeyman Jorge as was fucking comical just because he was top 5 and getting title shots in a horrendous era

It's too bad GSP bowed out before he could fight Lawler and Woodley, and maybe even Usman. How old would he have been? He's about the same age as Woodley and Lawler, Usman is 5-6 years younger than that.
But GSP legitimately lost to Hendricks so I guess he knew he couldn't compete then. And maybe we know how it would have gone because Condit was more competitive with Rory and Lawler than he was with GSP, and Rory beat Woodley up (mmamath).

I don’t see anyone, aside from Buckley, out of the new blood at 170 that I would favor over Usman…

I would give Usman a very good chance over Maddalena, Machado-Garry, Rakhmonov, Prates, etc. and yes, even Muhammad…

I agree with this except I think Shavkat might be his toughest test due to his size, physicality, and striking....not Buckley.

None of the other guys have a great chance against prime Usman, let's not forget how dominant his wrestling was and how serviceable his striking was when combined with the threat of the takedown (beat the fuck out of Strickland, Masvidal, and Woodley standing due to TD threat, Colby didn't feel that threat nearly as much so it was a competitive kickboxing match).

Brady would get his shit pushed in, he ain't sniffing a takedown, and while he may not get blown out on the feet, he's not winning either.

Both were basic wrestle-boxers but they were very solid. Overall though, they weren't anything new or particularly special. Obviously nowhere near GSP.

Not sure what's going on at WW these days but I'd be surprised if all that much has changed. People with high-level wrestling and serviceable boxing will be successful in the UFC if they can make it past Uncle Goof's Stand and Bang Contender Series.

At least they never got koed in there prime to matt serra

TS after almost every event, "Everyone sucks.", lol.

Time is a flat circle on the Dawg.

Prime Usman would fuck Belal up too... and after Brady beats Belal in the rematch we are gonna be having the same talk about how disgustingly weak the current 170lbs division is.
What rematch?
Shavkat is gonna beat Belal first.
Then it will be Shavkat vs Brady for the belt.

Khabib couldn't dominate Gleison Tibau and robbed him of a win. Went 0/13 on TDs and Tibau is by far the physically biggest opponent Khabib fought. There's a reason Khabib was killing himself to make 155 and had pulled out of fights trying to make 155 and getting hospitalized and having seizures. He gets murked @ 170 and he knows it. Shit he wouldn't even fight 40yo Ellen Degeneres haircut era GSP at a catchweight and wanted him to cut to 155 LOL. Have to be braindead to think Khabib does anything at 170.

Hating ass delusional motherfucker. Khabib whoops Belal, JDM, Brady all in the same night. So does Islam.

I'm curious to see how Kamaru or Colby would deal w Sean Brady's high level back strength. would be a good fight to see if they were bums all along.

Facts are facts babybois. They were at the top of a historically garbage era of the WW division.

Journeyman LWs like Jorge and Burns were top 5 ranked WWs and got 3 title shots between them. Kamaru's whole reign was defending against journeyman LWs and Colbert LOL

LW journeyman Nate got ranked 7th in the WW division. Shot and fat Pettis moved up and KOd top 5 Wonderboy. Journeyman LW Chiesa was almost top 5. LW journeyman Cowboy was top 10. 40yo Maia was still ranked top 10 their whole run. Division was hot trash.

Leon himself was feasting on fat LWs for his run to the title like Cowboy, RDA, Gunnar, Nate. Now we've entered a new and good era of the WW division. Good riddance.

Absolutely correct. Woodley too.

He never evolved after getting worked by Sheilds and Rory. He basically got lucky GSP retired, Hendricks got fat, Lawler and Rory killed eachother.

The Woodley era is when the WW division began to be weak until now. Usman was legitimate tho, dude had an entire arsenal. He had striking, wrestling, grappling, cardio, & fight IQ.

Training and aging while simultaneously living life catches up with everybody.

Imo the GOATs of the WW division not only defends the belt at least a couple of times, but also manage to be a strong gatekeeper against up and comers on their way out.
