Marvel Just Killed Thanos (Comic Book)

Funny. I prefer Ellis when he's parodying mainstream comics but not so much when he's doing work for hire. I also enjoy Morrison more when he's doing work for hire than when he's doing his mo esoteric stuff.

Marvel's ultimate friendzone.

I keep trying to die so I can be with Mistress Death. I'm like, "Come on, baby, just let it happen, you know you want me!" and she's all like, "No! Get away from me you crazy stalker! Rape, rape!"

...And the next thing I know I'm alive again. I suffer from Premature Resurrection:(

Comic books and death never last.

Dude was locked away in a sealed off galaxy at the end of the Thanos Imperative.

God, Marvel is lame.

Yeah, because DC would never bring a character back from the dead.

Cough, Jason Todd! cough;)

The Ultimate Universe gave us Ultimate Spider-Man, the most consistently great long comic book runs of all time, and The Ultimates (1-2) + some great Ultimates related cross-overs. The rest was pretty much garbage.

Ultimate Red Skull made 616 Herr Schmidt look like a Vegan, registered Democrat ACLU lawyer:eek:

Thunderbird is still dead.
He was one of, if not the, first high profile deaths, and they' kept him dead. His spirit/ corpse has been seen, but he's never truly been resurrected.

I forgot about him. I wonder if they kept him dead because he was less popular than other characters?

Hell, it was incredibly smart to kill superman when they did. I know that's DC, but now is the perfect time to kill the unkillable. He's at his peak, so it makes sense, because its more dramatic since all the lights are on him. Its the comics, they all come back in one way or another.

I am not sure why they do when he is finally at his peak in popularity. Everyone seems to know his name now and is stepping outside the comic realm and into other medias like Fortnite and things. So why kill him off(for good) now? Seems dumb.

He will be brought back as a gay character upon a rainbow chariot and his name will be THANUS!!!

PS His eye color will be changed to brown.

for real? I might have to subscribe to some comics again. I used to have subscriptions to over 20 Marvel comics per months/release period. Now I have zero.

I stopped after the ultimate universe ended, and soon after House of M/Civil War ended. Right when World War Hulk was starting.

I do miss it, but the Marvel universe is so big. That's why I liked the ultimate universe. I have every issue from every series in the Ultimate universe. Some are worth a pretty penny. I have them bagged and boarded, I need to get them appraised and put in hard plastic.

Ultimate universe was like 4-6 series, depending on the time. Not like 50 different series, all with tie-ins.
you were reading around the right time (civil war) but you were reading the wrong crossover (civil war). go find all of the books for annihilation, or drop $700 on the omnibus (its near worth it).

we already know lady death isn't interested in thanos, he will be spit back out of the afterlife in short order. he has current appearances in other books and marvel won't keep him dead while the second half of infinity war (mcu) is coming.

This sums it up right here. That is why the MCU needed to take many of the themes from the Ultimate Universe, to be successful. There are many better ways to tackle social issues that to change the sex of the Norse God of Thunder. M I rite?
Ultimates was surprisingly well written. Taking a fantastic idea like super powers, and saying how would that actually work in reality. Of course you would have governments looking to get control of them since they're a wmd in human form. They go from fighting aliens and super villains, to being used to fight terrorists and realizing that it's inevitable they will be used as a tool of the government.

They really look at both sides of the issue without a lot of pandering. Shame they couldn't continue with that course, but it's easier to just pander to the fad of the moments and hope that spikes sales.

I think it was easier to keep him dead for that reason, but after a while his death was too important to ruin with some weak gimmick plotline.

i dont read comics, but dont all of these characters get killed and then come back to life every other issue or so?

Thanos is unkillable. You nerds believe what you want. He'll be back at Wrestlemania, you fucking dweebs.

they kept him "dead" because he was replaced by his brother, warpath. its easy to keep a character dead when you have already essentially cloned them.

nope. marvel proved nothing was sacred with their resurrection of mar-vell.

looks like that was just a one off and he re-died almost right away. That gets a pass from me, but it is really weak - especially so when you consider this:

God, I loved Marvel Graphic Novels. Revenge of the Living Monolith might be my favorite.

Remember Marvel Fanfare?
