Ever since Marcelo Garcia has joined ATT for MMA training, he has been sparring with ATT's best in submission grappling as well. Quite a few well known globally respected black belts came to ATT to roll with Marcelo Garcia. Ricardo Liborio said that Marcelo Garcia is the greatest grappler to have ever lived. Eddie Bravo in his own words said that Marcelo Garcia is the Jesus of BJJ and it was astonishing to see him completely destroy every black belt in ATT. He noted that one black belt weighing 210 pounds, a top competitor that is well-respected around the world, tapped to Marcelo Garcia at least 10 times in a 10 minute roll.

Check this youtube video out of Eddie Bravo's testimony of his first-hand experience of Marcelo Garcia DESTROYING some of the best grapplers in the world. It's absolutely scary and awesome how this guy continues to improve exponentially! I can't wait till ADCC 2009!

ADCC 2007 was enough evidence, he ran through everybody he fought even in Absolute except for Drysdale.

Marcelo is too f-ing scary, especially when you hear the guy speak, too humble, but can make you cry or sleep at will.

where is the over under control from (position wise) that eddie bravo is talking about in the vid? Does he mean from the back?

Somewhat related, does anybody know when his next MMA fight is? There's a rumor that he's on the Dream card next week but I haven't read anything confirmed.

What happens in the gym should stay in the gym.

Of course it is not a huge revelation, but just shouldn't be talked about publicly, especially in the form you just did.

Shanghai is right.

But we're just like a bunch of yentas at starbucks and can't help ourselves. So dish already.

Just watch him choke Shaolin unconsious in under a minute at ADCC. He's a freak.

*creepy old man voice* you better not tell anybody or else you'll get in trouble!

Everyone gets caught but Marcelo is one of the best ever without question

I agree....besides the fact that this is old news. That being said....I never really watched Marcelo until recently and everytime I see him I am in awe!

I love when people shoot for a single and he does that step over w/ his other leg and immediately takes the guys back

Marcelo Garcia at ATT

Diego Sanchez had close grappling war with him, anyone got video.

Diego is amazing grappler.

^^ Nice Video with Drysdale.

I just checked Marcelo's record and he has three grappling loses:

Drysdale = 99KG
Jacare = 84KG
Marcio Cruz = 105KG

Marcelo Garcia competes in the 66-76KG division.

He's lost to more guys than that. Terere and Roger Gracie have beaten him at the black belt level. I believe that Dustin Denes and Cafe Dantas beat him at the brown belt level. Daniel Moraes beat him in the 2003 ADCC trials.

I still think he's the best.

margarita beat him as well i think.

but lb for lb marcelo is still the best guy in jiujitsu right now.

just my opinion though..

this isnt to take away from the tons of other amazing guys out there.. i just think marcelo is in a league of his own.
