Manti Te

Are that big an ND nuthugger that you can't see how this is an issue for NFL employers?

I'm not even an ND fan.

So tell me Mr. Red Tide*, how does this affect NFL "employers"?

*Lets just make assumptions about each other k?

Because it is a massive shitstorm of a PR nightmare for any company (team) willing to hire this buffoon.

Not to mention his evaluation as a servicable player was as much due to leadership and lockerroom mettle as it was raw ability, so with that out the window he isn't even very useful to teams willing to deal with a crazy media circus.

He brings either unbelievable stupidity or unbelievable cruelty, plus in either case a healthy dose of drama, to the lockerroom.

Two words: Michael Vick.

Two more words: Plaxico Burress.

Two more words: Ray Lewis.

he's a football player. 50% of them are legit criminals. it hurts his value, but not enough to be shunned.

I wonder how they're going to measure this on the combine?

His whole brand was based around the compassionate, good-hearted leader.

Brand destroyed.

nah. once people think they've heard the truth they will move on. the only person he's hurt, as far as i can tell, is himself.

We can't pronounce his name NOW, as a testament to what this dude means to the world.

You clearly don't watch football if you think Manti Te'o could even hold the jock strap of any of those guys.
You just list 4 guys who are within the top 10-20 most talented players at their position in the history of American Football.

All of these guys got caught up in stupidity while already established in the NFL, not before. Oh, and it still ruined some of their careers (Vick and Plax)

Does a corporation treat a candidate showing up to their interview drunk more harshly than they would an employee at their holiday party?

While not saying that Manti Te'o participated in or knew about the hoax that his girlfriend did not exist, a former teammate told ESPN's Bob Holtzman on Wednesday that players knew the woman wasn't really his girlfriend even though Te'o played that up as his tragic story was being told.

In September, the grandmother of Te'o died, and it was widely reported that his girlfriend died hours later. Media outlets pounced on the story as Notre Dame began its march to the title game. After Deadspin.com broke the hoax story, however, multiple media reports have said players thought that Te'o had only met Lennay Kekua once and that it wasn't really accurate to call her his girlfriend. But as condolences poured in, Te'o "played along," according to the teammate, who wished to remain anonymous.

The teammate portrayed the move as part of the All-American's personality, telling ESPN that Te'o liked attention so much that he would sometimes point himself out to friends when he was on television.

His teammates are turning on him.

people who think this is no big deal (as far as his draft prospects are concerned) clearly don't know very much about the draft process. they give these guys psych evals, ask them all sorts of personal questions, basically try to get a feel for what they're like off the field. this sort of thing tells them all they need to know.

How about Lawrence Phillips? Does that work for you Mr. NFL Team Owner?

Dez Bryant cant function in society without having multiple babysitters. if they think he has the ability, he'll get a chance.

None of these guys were coming out of college with a major scandal prior to draft day. None were drafted with the intent of drafting an unquestionable team leader that would become the face of their franchise (maybe Vick).

And none outside of Vick was a top 10 pick which what was predicted for Te'o.

america loves to build up heroes, tear them down, build them up again, rinse repeat

i think he's gonna fall in the draft and some team is gonna pick him up at good value position

Continue blathering.

Phillips would have gone 1 or 2 overall if he wasn't a psycho, and then had to have his rookie contract filled with conditions to protect the Rams against him fucking up.
The dude had immense talent but was totally unemployable.

I really don't know why or how you're trying to make a case for Te'o staying as a high draft prospect like he was during the season. On top of all this, he is a very mediocre LB by NFL standards.

Like I said in my f/u post, how about Lawrence Phillips?
Te'o was a projected top 5 pick before this scandal.

His off field hijinks are desirable compared to the players that come out of San Quentin...I mean U. of Miami.
