Manny Pacquio vs David Diaz plus Fields/Barrett Tonight on PPV

i believe manny can surpass mayweather soon...only in my opinion though :icon_chee
 
The ending of Lorenzo/Soto reminded me of the way many of Marcel Thil's fights tended to end (and that's not very endearing of Lorenzo)...

But other than that, I had a good time watching this card. Can't wait to see who Pacquiao fights next.
 
My problem is I just can't watch any boxing match. It has to be top contenders, top prospects, or elites. I love the technical aspect of boxing and I study it with fervor watching the elites fight and in the gym, but I can't stand sloppiness. Rarely do I tune in to the undercards of foxsports, espn, versus... (I just catch the main event). I would like watch boxing just for boxing... but I can't. I just get really vexed watching sloppy technique. Even when the fight is a war, I can't watch it. It explains my declining interest in MMA. It's horrid technique...

Funny enough, I was just reading the fight reports on Thil's fights with Lou Brouillard not even a week ago, and while both title fights ended under dubious circumstances with Brouillard getting DQ'd, the final fight of their series reeked of something else...Brouillard drops him for the full ten count. The referee and judges converse shortly after. Thil is declared the winner for no apparent reason according to the onlookers. Then Thil's own hometown crowd charge the ring in disgust and cause a near riot.

That's in a nut shell.
 
My favorite Thil moment is the photo of him out there grabbing his crotch and hammering his gloved fist into the canvas, really hamming it up for the referee who seems to be going "WTF?!"

Shit, we had a card broadcast up here in Canada a few months back with some of the sloppiest shit I've ever seen, but I watched it (it was Tony Badea's comeback fight in Edmonton against the worse excuse for a "pro" fighter I think I've seen since I don't know when...maybe the worst ever, but there was a fight on television a few years ago involving Tim Craine, I think his name was, and he was absolute shit). Mind you, I was cussing the fighters out throughout the whole show, but I still watched it with some emotional attachment.

The worst part is, it was rebroadcast a couple of weeks ago and I ended up watching most of it again. Although this time I obviously knew what to except and I ended up laughing at what I saw more than anything.

You're thinking of the Nick Casal-Tim Crane 'match' on ESPN where Casal tapped Crane down 3 times and they revoked Crane's license afterwards.

That would be the one, yes, and I hope my reference of Crane being "shit" isn't classified as fighter bashing because I honestly didn't see any type of "fighter" in him (if it is I'll retrack the comment and edit it somewhat), and apparently neither did those who revoked his license.

I remember feeling embarassed for ESPN after showing that "fight" and wondering why on earth they'd show something like that.

Why even bother? I don't get it. You can give me the most simple explanation, but my cognitive processes would not allow me to process and accept that explanation. It's just how my minds works. I go for ARTIST, never dilettante.
 
Dude, I missed the last season of the wire. Catching one of the episodes on HBO right now. God.. I love this show.
 
So what's next for Manny - he said he wants to fight again in Nov and the only possible opponent i can see is Nate Campbell since everyone else in the weight class is tied up (katsidis/diaz and casamayor/marquez) and Hatton has Malignaggi coming up.
 
Pacquiao absolutley demolished Diaz, it was boxing clinic at its finest! Ive never seen Pacquiao display such versatile skill ever in a fight. His precision was divine. It was like a joke to see how easily Manny toyed with Diaz.

But you got to give that guy full credit. He was the only reason that fight was entertaining. His toughness is beyond comprehension. It looked like Pacquiao needed a gun to put that guy down (not a knife like Dias mentioned in his interview) Diaz has without a doubt a heart of a champion, but he lacked speed and power. Pacquiao was just too much for him. And I love the bluntly geniune post fight interview he did, hilarious!

I honestly believe if Pacquiao fights the way he did in this fight. I dont see him losing ever. He's going to just train roll over all his opponents. That dude is the full package from what i've seen in this fight. Hatton watch out! Pacman is coming to eat you!
 
I was at the fight tonight and the whole event was fantastic. Even though Diaz went to the hospital after the fight he showed up to the press confrence even though he wasnt expected there. Diaz fought his heart out and did what true champions do. How can some idiot come and say that they should have stopped this fight in the third round? Yea he was getting beat nut it was his title to lose not pacquiaos. He gained alot of peoples respect tonight. The press confrence didnt say too much just pav in sep (I thin) zabs got a fight coming up and a few other things I cant think of. Oh THe WBC (I think) refused to give the title to fransisco as he really hammed the whole thing up. They are calling for an immediate rematch and the winner of that fight gets the title. War SOTO

DId anyone notice how he was on the ground holding his head until they said he was the new champion then he stood up, concussion and all and raised his hands and....well u get the point.

WHat was even more embarrasing is that I was sitting next to that guys best friend and his friend said hes a jokeacting like he was hit in the back of the head when it really was a glancing blow. He even got up and left after the incident.
 
I also thought that someone should of stopped the fight earlier. The guy was just taking way too much punishment that it felt inhumane. I mean where was his corner to save him? By the 6th rd, there is no way that Diaz could win really. Only by KO/TKO which is highly unlikely.

Its obvious the guy wouldn't quit and i think the corner should of had more compassion for his well being and safety. I know i would of thrown the towel. Or the ref or doctor should of stepped in. Regardless if Diaz was the champion or not. It was inevitable for him to lose and to see him get crumpled like that in the end was just brutal, it shouldn't have happen.

One fight is trivial to someone long term health and career.
 
Manny was spectacular tonight. He displayed amazing defensive skills. The Pacman reached a whole new level tonight. I was surprised with his restraint as well. Typically when he gets an opponent hurt he swarms them with reckless abandon (like in Morrales 1), but not this time. Pacman has become a truly clinical fighter.

I have to nod to Diaz for showing some amazing chin. In round two, a minute-five in, Manny nailed him with a straight left so flush it sounded like he broke a wooden board. And there's Diaz hanging tough for 7 more rounds. Triple D is one tough SOB.

I hope that Pacman can maintain this level of discipline from here on out. Avoided slugfests means he'll be around a lot longer.

Agree. When the fight was stopped Pacman didn't have a mark and Diaz looked like he was beaten with a baseball bat. There was a massive bump over his left eye and a two inch gash over his right. David only had a punchers chance by the seventh round which was gone by the fifth round. I watched this fight on a mexican channel and the announcers said, "Only heart is holding him up, his body is gone." I was saying stop the fight by the seventh round.
