Manny Pacquio vs David Diaz plus Fields/Barrett Tonight on PPV

lol remember when everybody thought Barrera was gonna technically outbox and outpoind Pac in the 2nd fight?

just the oppositte happened

i just wish he was close to mayweather and cottos weight just to see those 3 dance. maybe all 3 at once lol

I am just happy to be here to see a tremendous run. I hope the best for Paquiao.

As for Pac and Elorde, you have to agree that Pacquiao has had an overall more successful career and if he takes Hatton, there is no question. Gawd... This fight would be so fucking hot in Machester.

Don't you recall the broadcasts of "The Way It Was"...? I think that's what it was called. Jake was the most charming guy on the set of that when they reviewed the footage of he and Robinson. Sugar Ray was as personable as dry toast, despite being nice for the show. But yeah, likeable in that he curses a lot and will probably smack ya around a bit way.

I think YouTube has them doing that 'The Way It Was' show together, King, or at least they did in the past as I watched it on there before. Yeah, LaMotta also has had a definate personailty that he's worn on his sleave, but I don't know...Maybe if I hadn't read his bio before and found out about some of the shit he admits to do doing I'd have more of a likeness to him.

I do think he got a bit of a bad rap by the boxing community after the Kefauver trial, though, when the boxing world literally turned their backs on him for what he admitted to doing in the Fox fight. I especially thought him not getting invited to Robinson's retirement party was a slap in the face considering so many of Robinson's other more famous opponents were in attendance at MSG for the event (like Fullmer, Basilio, Turpin, etc...LaMotta was living just a short distance away from MSG at the time too), although none of them were as linked as closely as was LaMotta.

Can't blame Elorde for the times he lived in, but yes, more successful defnitely.

Before the card began I said "We haven't seen a good old fashioned robbery in a while..." Then when Buffer was introducing Soto's opponent (I can't even remember his name right now...) I had a flash in my head and thought "OMG... He's going to win! Upset City!" I got both! Great night for me!

If chico and castillo were still in the mix and pac came to 135, would pac have the balls to face them. He probably would. But those guys were just so damn big for that weight. It would have been interesting though. :)

Man I wish Chico was still around. RIP. Chico would of knocked Pac out

I don't think so, bro. The Manny we saw tonight would have hacked Chico to pieces. I loved Chico and all, but he was way too easy to hit.

Let's say Pac fights another good contender or champ at 135 and beats him. Goes up to 140 and beats Hatton. Where would you put pacquiao in the boxing historical outline?

I've all but given up on ranking fighters on a historical basis, so all I gots to say is let each individual fan rank him wherever the hell they want to rank him (or not rank him) and let them be.

I agree. Maybe it's just the pug in me as well, but guys like Jake, and Galento, they always but a smile on my face. David reminded me a lot of them with his candor.

That's all fine and dandy... but would you at least consider him a great if he does beat a few champions at 135 and beat hatton?

jesus, pac's interveiws are another good reason to drink

LOL. He's still working on his english.

BTW With the payouts he's amassed, he could spend his entire life traveling around the world but he decided to go back to school so he can finish a degree. Says a lot about his character...

I think he's already a "great", Ducky, and have for some time now.

Pacquiao also gains something from me besides just what's on his record or the ability he's shown in the ring, and that's the "intangible" fact that he made me fucking excited about boxing again during the first Marquez fight after not being much more than a casual fan who watched the heavyweights and occasional lighter weight "super fights" sort to speak for a few years running.

There is certainly other fighters in the past decades that has done more than pacquiao in terms of gaining titles and being successful in weight transition, but no one... I mean no one has look as good as him doing it. It's really something to behold being able to really be there to see his career progress. i don't know how anyone not fall in love with pacquiao.

& and it is nice to hear a lone fighter has got you back into the sport.

I agree, i mean this guy started out at light Flyweight for christ sakes.

Well, I didn't really leave the sport. It's just that, with the rare exception (like Ward/Augustus, which brought me to tears when i watched it), I spent a few years just watching the fights in pretty much an emotionless trance almost just because of the fact that I've been watching them all my life and that's just what I did. The first Pacquiao/Marquez fight, shit, I spent most of that fight up on my feet winging punches to the wind and feeling REALLY excited about the sport again. Ever since then and now, I have had a deeper attachment to the fights inside of me, whether it be watching an exciting fight and getting emotionally involved in it, or a less action packed and more strategical fight where I'm involved more with my head than my heart.
