Lex Luger from Summerslam 93-Wrestlemania X: Miscast as the next Hulk Hogan, Lex's face run saw him portrayed as Hogan 2.0 with the Lex Express and going all the way with the patriot gimmick.

Winning by count-out against Yokozuna and celebrating make him look like a idiot since he didn't win the title. Bret Hart being the more popular of the two come Wrestlemania time and there goes any chance of a world title/main event. Badly booked and miscast, Luger had no chance of becoming a permanent main eventer in the WWE.

Lex can be a excellent face as seen in his feud with Ric Flair in the 80's and the NWO is just the WWE saddled him with the wrong gimmick and bad booking at his window of opportunity to be a main-eventer in the WWE.

I'm sure there countless examples throughout the decades of main event pushes that went badly, no matter the promotion.

Luger could have gone further as the narcissist.

Two that come off the top of my head are Scott Steiner and The Miz.

Billy Gunn in the summer of 99.
As for Luger, he was never the same after the awful Dusty finish at the 88 Great American Bash.

Luger in 93 is always the one to come to mind.

Lex and RR are the two that really stick out for me. Two guys that were basically groomed to be handed the brass ring and it just failed miserably. Luger sucked but I don't know if I've ever seen the fans vocally reject a main eventer the way they have RR. And deservedly so, he's awful in his current role. He was a great quiet enforcer type but he's no #1 baby face.

The finish via excessive blood despite Luger having Flair in the rack. I recall finishes by excessive blood used in the early 80's WWE as a way to protect the champion from dropping the title yet putting over the opponent. I seen that in some Backlund matches when he lost via blood stoppage yet kept the title via loophole as the only way a title can be won is by pinfall or submission.

When they tried to have Holly feud with Brock after returning from Brock breaking his neck after Holly tried to sandbag him on a powerbomb

It is funny because the way people tried to play the anti-Roman Reigns off as because of the neckbeards. The anti smarks claimed that the neckbeards are the minority who only wanted to put themselves and their guy over, yet here we have cities after cities either dead or actively hostile to Roman Reigns. If such hate is "minorities" then i'm shudder to think what is "majority". Even putting the neckbeards argument aside, what is there for people to cheer for Reigns for, really? Shit promo? Superman booking that serve no sense? Barely any characterization at all? But you know, it is all because of the neckbeard.

Vladimir Kozlov because half you bamas don't even remember he was with the company let alone got a WWE title match against Triple H at Survivor Series.

You sound butthurt like neckbeards usually are

Yeah but then he teamed with Santino Marella. It's not always so much about the highs of a guys career as it is the lows.

They still tried hard to push him as a big deal before he went to the Santino stuff. Same with Khali and fucking Mysterio

They were both shit

Couldve been great if they actually utilized Bret Hart instead of having him fight the Quebecer or Isaac Yankem.

Also could've worked if they used Razor, Bulldog and Owen more. Their roster was so good but they just booked everything terribly back then IMO

It wasn't booking, Eric was offering way more money to WWF guys than Vince could afford. Those guys didn't care about how they were booked, there were getting MILLIONS guaranteed to go to WCW. Bret got 2.5 Million to go to WCW while he was WWF Champion.
