Goals & Gains MAGA - Make Awesome Gains Again!

I spoke to an old Rugby player once who told me that in his day, no one wore gumshields. Because if you had any teeth left, you weren't playing hard enough. :)

Yeah, two visits and north of £200. And that's the cheapest option: a metal crown. A crown made out of the white stuff they use for fillings nowadays would have cost £600!

It's closer to 1500$ here. I highly recommend getting the regular colored crown for 600$ if it's something you can afford. One crown and a couple cleanings took out my entire dental coverage for the year of 2k.

Is dental not fully covered in UK? I thought it was just us uncultured masses in the US...

The NHS provides emergency treatment, and subsidises dentist's fees. So the metal crown will cost me £200 because it comes under the NHS. The white crown is not part-covered by the NHS, so it costs the full £600.

Dang that sucks. The 'composite' (just remembered the word) is only a bit more here and it's much better cosmetically(over the years I redid my metal fillings into the natural tooth color). My friends have done payment plans for certain things like this over the years (no clue if that's done in UK). We also have a gov program to set aside earnings tax free to use treatments up to 5k annually but shitty part is you have to use it up or you lose it.

In any case sorry for clogging up your log.

No apologies necessary, mate. I brought up the subject after all. :)

The worst part so far was the water-jet the dental nurse uses to clear away the debris while the Dentist is working. I was in the chair for 45 minutes, and at one point I had to tap out. So much water was going down my throat, it felt like being water-boarded.

I know the feeling. Sometimes they can suction the water well and sometimes I'm choking on it. As a side note I use NSAIDS before my cleanings either a couple Excedrins or ibuprofens and it helps a ton with tooth sensitivity.

BJJ.

We spent this class practicing a standing Guard Pass. How to clear the opponent's legs, keep the pressure on him as you take Side Control, and finish with Kimura or Crush.

Professor Rick said he was spending the whole session on this one technique because there were a lot technical points to cover. Relatively minor adjustments that meant the difference between the technique succeeding or the opponent managing to break free.

BJJ.

This class was exclusively spent on Leg Locks. A whole new world for a White Belt like me, since we're not allowed to use them in Rolls. A very interesting class. Given how easy it is to snap someone's shit up with a Leg Lock, we had to be very careful. So the class was more of an intellectual challenge than physically intensive.

I get my tooth fixed tomorrow, so hopefully I'll be back to Rolling next week. :)
