Goals & Gains Lug's Spear: Unleashed S&P

Oly Lessons

SNATCH
-Light weight, I think I went up to 105 and did a bunch o' triples

OVERHEAD SQUAT
-Did light weight, this was to focus on keeping my arms locked out and tight since I like to relax them after the second pull it seems.

Notes: My back was so fried I could barely do anything. It's really frustrating not being able to do stuff when the body isn't willing. I think my inability to sleep for longer that 4.5 to 5 hours a night is catching up to me. I'm going to start taking sleeping medicine, this is some BS if it's harming my training. I went to the gym to relieve stress, but just ended up pissing myself off with my lack of recovery.

Thank ya DS!

Me... I would never try to beat your PR...

/dives through 2nd story glass window, runs to the curb and steals someone's cab, tires squeel, the cab crashes through the local YMCA wall, and I dive out into a roll and attempt a 337.5 deadlift.

lol

I've been to the gym once already today but I wouldn't hesitate to go back and pull 345 :icon_twis

*pulls 365*

You'd better not pull 375 because I'm out of deadlift PRs...

POWER SNATCH
-Worked my way up to 47.5 kg, but realized my form was pretty shitty so went back down. Then worked my way up to 50kg (110 lbs).
110X1
110X1
110X1
110X1
110X1
-Did a shit ton of reps working my way up to 110. I did 110 until I hit it with good form and then stopped since I was beat like a whore in church. I tried to C&J, but my wrists felt really tight in the rack position so I called it a day.

Notes: Worked on snatch a lot, which is fine. No coaching today since John was busy with paperwork. He told me to come in tomorrow and he would give me some help. I suspect that he was watching me from the desk at times and has some good pointers to give me. Hopefully I can recover well tonight... though I am going to a Coheed and Cambria concert in two hours.

Oh shit, get some sleep son. Might look into melatonin or something. I don't even function really on the 7 hours I get on weekdays. Today I slept 11 hours, which cured a lot of soreness.
Also convert to kg, it's much easier on the eyes^^

1) Jay is right. I recently started sleeping like a human being again and it's made all the difference.
2) Use pounds. It's the American thing to do.

11 hours you son of a b... I mean that's good that you can do that. I think all of the stress from studying for tests and writing papers is what is affecting my sleep. I took a 3 hour nap and slept 9 hours one day after taking some sleeping pills. It's pretty glorious. I function pretty well on little to no sleep though which is kind of a plus when I need to wake up and do things, but it seriously weakens my workouts and recovery time.

lol @ the kg conversion, that was a good one :icon_chee I might start recording in both so I can get used to it since all of the plates at the oly gym are in kgs.

Yeah I'm gonna place more importance on getting 8 hours of sleep I guess. It just sucks that I can lay in bed at 2am and stay that way for 2 hours until I fall asleep and then get up 4 or 5 hours later for class. I don't like having to resort to medicine, but it seems like it's the only rational thing to do at this point.

SNATCH
-worked on technique today w/ 95 lbs. I seem to be having trouble staying tight after pulling from the hips and trying to push up from under the bar.

C&J
-warm up sets-
135X1
135X1
135X1
135X1

-Getting easier now that I am more comfortable.

FRONT SQUAT
135X3
135X3
135X3
135X3
135X3

Notes: So boring without coaching. There were some people there who gave me unsolicited advice. It's fine and I am thankful, but I like to sit in silence for the majority of my rests between sets. Some shorter tips would be nice, hopefully in a manner that doesn't give me a headache.

I wanted to go to Coffee's today, but...you left the pub before I could get the message out. I guess I shoulda texted. Fack.

Doh! It was pretty uneventful, but hopefully next time. John was asleep for most of my workout despite him telling me to come in today so he could help me lol. I dunno how he can sleep in a chair in the corner of the room when people are dropping weights 5 feet from him.

BENCH
135X5
145X5
145X5
145X5
145X5
-Working on keeping the shoulder blades pinched. Looks like I will have to start over with my progress if it keeps up like this.

DEADLIFT
135X5
225X5
275X3
-belt-
275X3
295X2
295X2
295X2
-Wanted to go easy on these, I think I am capable of more.

Notes: 3rd day lifting in a row, which scares me a little. I know two of those days were olympic lifting, but my friend wanted to go and I wanted to help him out. I sure love deadlifting and it's fun to be able to use my nice belt.

Maybe I explained something poorly on the bench. MoM has a YouTube video on scapular retraction on the bench. You should watch it. His Youtube name is MatterOM.

I will make sure to check that out. I'm not surprised that trying to change up my bench technique has made it more difficult, but I'll have to make sure I'm doing it right. I skipped the starting strength chapter on bench which I am starting to regret. Going to see what good stuff is in there after I get done studying.

How's your lifting going? It seems like you haven't been updating the dog log too often. I'm guessing most of it is in the other one?

I keep up with the other one, but honestly forget to give a shit about this one.
