Goals & Gains Lug's Spear: Unleashed S&P

Whelp, I’ve gotten fat and out of shape since I last posted. Starting tomorrow I’ll do a weekly weigh in post on here to keep myself accountable. I’ve been doing BJJ and got a knee injury from some guy holding onto a heel hook too long while I was tapping. That pretty much is when I stopped posting. My knee is mostly better at this point so I don’t have any excuse.

BJJ
Practiced several neon belly controls and counters to escapes. Rolled for 30 minutes, really wish our classes were structured for more rolling time. I was happy with my rolling, managed to guillotine a much bigger guy who I hadn’t submitted in a while.

I almost talked myself out of it this morning. Treadmill is in the garage and it’s 25 degrees outside. Went for it anyway and glad I did. 30 minute jog at 5 mph (2.5 miles total). It’s starting to feel easier. Going to increase speed next week. Usually when I increase the speed too fast my knee gets sore, so just trying to enjoy it. Watched UFC 309 while jogging.
 
Did BJJ 2x last week, need to get my morning jogging go again since this cough is 85% gone, it has hung around for a while. I had better success last week in jiu jitsu. I’m trying to just embrace that I’ve become a leg locker. I tried to get away from it, but even when I did I still had the gym reputation as the leg lock guy. Might as well just go for it I guess. Tomorrow I might try some jogging in the morning as long as it doesn’t aggravate the cough thing.
 
Did two jiu jitsu classes last night, advanced class and then the beginners class. My instructor got onto me for never finishing the schools curriculum even though I’ve been going there two years so I’m trying to go to the beginner class here and there. Advanced class was fun working some guard stuff. I actually had the guy who injured my knee in a tight heel hook, but let it go when he wouldn’t tap. All he said was ‘you had a good bite on the heel.’ Don’t think he realized I just let him out of it. I try not to pair up with that guy if I can avoid it. Overall pretty fun class, hit two north south chokes which was a mini goal of mine. I would like to develop that technique. Hopefully go back Wednesday. I still need to incorporate some strength and conditioning. Two days of BJJ isn’t much exercise with my sedentary work.
 
Wednesday went back to BJJ, we trained a few different variations of the scissor sweep from guard. Then we rolled for 45 minutes (3x 15 min rounds). I was totally exhausted after that. Hit a couple heel hook submissions and collar chokes. Somehow I guess I tweaked my other knee so I’ve been icing that past day. It’s feeling better, but I need to be more careful. Sore elbow and sore knee makes it challenging to do other exercises. Going to spend some time studying more leglock entries, I’ve forgotten a lot of stuff I’ve learned in the instructional videos I have on leglocks.

Leg Locks scare the shit out of me. I might try to fight an Armbar, Kimura or RNC, depending on how good my opponent is. As soon as someone gets the LL on, I Tap straight away.
