This is my thought as well. You beat me to it.I imagine there was a bit lost in translation and Pereira didn't understand that Smith really wasn't hating on him with his initial comment.
He doesn't speak English, right? Maybe Smith's message was translated to him in a way he took offense to? His response did seem odd to me, but I don't think any different of him.
The only thing that is going on is you acting like a fair weather fan, and whiney lil' bitch over a comment that you've obviously over read into something being there, when literally nothing at all was there.I thought about this, and I actually hope this is the reason.
However, Pereira never even got ruffled when Izzy mocked his own kid, after his own KO.
To me, when Pereira took all of this in stride, it showed strength.
In stark contrast, taking Smith's honest commentary to heart, so much, shows weakness, IMO.
Not sure what's going on.

Ankalaev failed to do it too.“Lackluster win over Jan”
LOL he beat Jan, something Izzy couldn’t even do.
Honestly,I thought his defensive grappling was alot better than I expected. On top of that he did threaten w a guillotine on the first TD attempt. The guy is putting in the work.I don’t think that Pereira is to blame for that kinda lackluster fight.
Jan has the ability to give everyone a hard night at the office and neutralize their strengths
Standing TKO for Alex and KO'd dead cold for Izzy. Izzy > Alex in MMA.Dude took the UFC by storm.
He was the first MW not only to "beat" Adesanya, but to KO him (again), first and only in kickboxing, first and only in MMA.
Okay, on the 4th try, Adesanya FINALLY catches Pereira gets to win (while getting his ass kicked up til that point). No worries, could happen to anyone.
Then ... Pereira has lackluster win over Jan ...ka's
Oy ... credit the "lackluster" part to "elevation + caution."
But, now ???
Pereira is getting "flustered" over something Anthony Smith said, even though it was only analytical and an opinion???
Honestly, Pereira's own confidence seems to be shaking.
His unflappable demeanor was part of his aura, and he seems to be losing it.
If this continues, especially if he loses, he will have lost a big fan.
Not that he gives two shits ... but he may, because I will likely not be the only fan he loses with this type of conduct.
I don't understand why you Stone Golem, and some others feel that Alex has "lost it" over Smith's comments.I understand him holding back on Jan ... he didn't want to be "too gung-ho" and repeat his previous mistake with Izzy.
But I don't understand him "losing it" over Anthony Smith's reasonable commentary.
I don't think Smith said one single thing wrong. He was being honest.
Pereira's response showed weakness to me. I will not change my position on this.

This reminds me of the Wand/Arona situation.Idk, but I'm interested in seeing them fight and Poatan knocking Smith silly, even though Alex is in the wrong.
Life is funny that way. Sometimes you wanna see the bad guys win.
