Islam doesn’t fight ilia immediately, he’s a duck. He beats ilia and people say he only beats a FW and should focus on beating LWs. He can’t win either way.


Imagine if Poirier or Olivera beats Ilia, do we get the “he beat a FW” narrative? I think not.

No because, because like Izzy, Volkanovski and many champions, Islam earned his shot in the next division, by defending his belt many times.

It would maybe be different if Islam actually had a contender at LW to fight, but he doesn't. Bookies are giving Ilia a better chance at beating Islam than they gave Arman. It's a massive fight that will get Islam paid big in PPV points.

Arman is the next contender, he deserved his shot, unlike Topuria.

If Dana refuses to give it to Arman, Topuria can easily beat a LW contender if he's that good and earn a titleshot, Islam just fought.
