It's a thematic device. SHANE is important to Charles, yes, and moreover Charles establishes SHANE as being important -- to the overall scheme of the film, plus the metatextual level of saying fare thee well to Hugh Jackman. It's great thievery. Had the soundtrack been better, this might have been the closest thing we would have seen to a Tarantino comic book flick.
 
I still say this movie is badly overrated and reading some of the recent comments itt, it looks like a lot of you are coming on board the reality train. Finally.

What was the Shane quote at the end? I never saw Shane so I didn't catch it.

no idea wtf you're talking about. I know they had a scene with Charles and the chick watching Shane. But what did she say at the end that was about Shane?
 
So since Eden was made up, Laura got the idea from the X-Men comics, what happens to the kids? Do they die of exposure in the Canadian wilderness.

He's saved a lot of people he cared for; many more than once and more than a few whom he had stronger bonds to than Laura. In DoFP he not only saved people he loved, he brought them back from the dead.

The strongest fan theory (or at least to me) is Emma Frost was up in Canada. Alpha Flight was second strongest.

More than likely, the comic book writer that included the coordinates as an easter egg, found 10 kids on his door step and hi-jinks ensued.

Where Wolverine takes TRT and it lasts for 5 minutes then he gets his ass beat? I didn't rally like the ending either.

Wolverine was a punching bag basically. Watching him get beat by a d-level baddie was sad to watch. He stood toe to toe with Sabertooth, Deadpool and Silver Samurai in his prime and now he has trouble with a couple of cholos. It was like watching BJ Penns current fights

Just saw it again... the chemistry between Logan and Prof. X is gold

And the frozen time casino/hotel sequence is simply amazing

Opening scene with the cholos was immensely satisfying as well.

Still impressed they managed to put out a fairly 'adult' film of this.

Pretty good swan song to go out on

As soon as they started singing it turned to shit for me.

The first 40 seconds of this is funny though, I was definitely thinking the same thing watching it.
 
rewatched it and i still loved it yet the criticisms of it ring a little more true. that medicine should have lasted a lot longer and would have made more of an interesting end sequence, the kids powers killing the narcos guy kind of looked lame on second viewing and wolvy did essentially turn into a bullet sponge towards the end.

still loved it though, a great way to end the series (i hope xavier and logan can find their way into the current marvel movies though...)
