Never thought of this. I'm seeing it one more time tonight so I'll look for this.

When you notice it, it puts Logan into a whole new light. He did settle down, he was happy and comfortable and surrounded by people he loved until Charles killed them ALL. Heartbreak heaped upon heartbreak.

Will definitely be on the lookout for this. Thanks.

Love be able to rewatch a film multiple times and not only enjoy it but find new things you never noticed before.

I'm all for not spoon-feeding the audience, and utilizing mystery/ambiguity... But it was all way too disconnected. Some sort of flashbacks/dream memory sequences would have done SO much for this film. It would have put the Charles-Logan relationship over the top and spiked the emotional stakes of the film.

That's one way of looking at it.

Then you have those of us who were incredibly grateful they didn't dumb the movie down with unnecessary flashbacks or dream sequences.

I'm sorry it felt disconnected to you, but for me, nothing more was needed, it was all right there. Less was more.

Origins, Last Stand, and Apocalypse all legitimately sucked.
First Class is pretty bad.
X1, X2, and DoFP were decent.
Logan, Deadpool are heads, shoulders, knees, and toes above the rest.

You didn't have any fun at all with First Class?

You're a tough audience.

:p

This wasn't the type of movie for that. Prometheus, a sci-fi mystery movie about the origins of humanity... THAT'S where leaving questions unanswered and up to interpretation is best utilized.

Was it dumbing down when Christopher Nolan used flashbacks in his Batman movies? No. I understand what you're trying to imply but you're wrong. Lack of detail is more complicated. We all got it. You're not smarter than everyone. We all saw and heard the hints about what happened in Westchester. It was the key emotional driver in this film, and they barely utilized it. There's realism and there's trying to make an emotional connection with a cinema full of people.

Also the brutality and gore just further upped the numbing tolerance.

This was a film that made you feel bored in the middle of, despite how cool it looked. Walking out of the theatre you're not wowed, just blank. Because you knew exactly what was going to happen from the beginning.

Solid film, with some great performances... But it's not on the GOAT tier of comic book movies.

I kind of liked it at first because of the whole Magneto scene at the end, which they ruined in the following movie. Kevin Bacon was also great portraying the bastardized character of Sebastian Shaw.
But the movie sucked. It was cheap - nothing felt authentic, the casino, the battleship cockpit, I swear I saw strings attached of Banshee and/or Pixie. The plot didn't unfold and achieve any of the desired tension. If not for some real actors it would have felt Sweded. The CW is much better with their sets, plots, attention to detail. And I've only touched on the abuse to the source material. The entire formation of the X-Men and the characters they chose, the casting, and the writing? Its hot garbage. Only X3, Origins, and Apocalypse being that much worse saves it me holding a lower opinion of it.

LOL here's a great way to put it.

It's like Alfred and Bruce in The Dark Knight Rises, without the first two movies before it. Cool and all, emotional on the surface... But no real context/build up to it.

Logan would have been GREAT as a finale installment to a film or two before it... That REALLY give it more emotional weight and context.

We're done here.

I keep forgetting to include Deadpool. That was great.

About how I feel here. Logan was easily one of the best comic book movies I have ever seen, and the last thing I would call it would be boring. I feel that the viewers got enough information to get us through the story, but the drip feed also kept us on our toes, and certainly kept me thinking after it was all over. I like a movie that respects the watchers enough to let us fill in the blanks, but doesn't use that as an excuse to throw logic out the window.

Gimmicky is the best way to describe this film. Hyped for being "different" and being R rated, which is cool because Deadpool did it. Ignore all shitty flaws!

The vast majority of films are made for the lowest common denominator, and I'm glad that wasn't the case here.

She's his daughter, but not really though... Was his clone his brother? Made in a lab. It was obvious as hell they weren't going to kill a little girl on the big screen,
Dude we saw a kid get a fully realistic hole blown into his chest from a commando's pistol. This movie was fucking awesome. Down to the fat kid getting caught first lol

The father dies confused and not knowing what's going on. He just knows Logan stabbed him and killed his family, so there's no difference or able to determine "good" or "bad" Logan just Logan. He mustered up every bit of life he could to avenge his family only to come up short and just gave out.

I think the dad knew exactly what was going on. At that point, he knew that they were mutants and that he saw another Logan. He knew there were 2 Logans and thought that he killed the one that killed his family. He knew that the real Logan was different.

But the real Logan also led all those people to his family. Logan was a bad dude for doing that and the father, rightfully to be honest, wanted to kill him for doing that.

Solid film, middle of the pack tier... Along with Deadpool. Nowhere close to that top upper echelon.

HIs comment you quoted and others showed he missed or simply did not understand a bunch of the movie or he is trolling because someone always has to troll something so popular.

Either way i would not feed him.

Can't argue with this at all

Definitely could have been the case

Saw it again this afternoon. Movie is pretty close to perfect. The angles, editing, cinematography, soundtrack, the story and how its unfolded. Pretty flawless.
Heard a lot of sniffles in this showing.

Just to clarify something I caught this time around:
The Westchester Event took the life of 7 mutants; several of them X-Men.
Based on that, and the context in which its revealed, after Charles defended Laura and himself against the Reavers, I think its safe to assume that 1 or more mutants killed were bad guys.
So the mansion came under attack and Charles retaliated by killing the attacker(s), but his lack of control/instinctual seizure killed a few X-men, in the process.

Love this idea. Awesome if true.

The only thing that's nagging me about this theory is that if the X-Men died, then so should have the alleged attackers of the Mansion and would have been included in the report (unless the attackers were part of the seven dead reported).

Thats what I'm saying. The attacker or attackers were part of the 7, that is why they say 7 killed, several of them X-men. Who were the others not included in the several if they weren't bad guys.
