They should base this new wolverine off the "ultimate xmen universe". He would be younger, way more sadistic, and his backstory is more interesting. Also they can use the same Ultimate storyline were he was sent by Magneto to infiltrate the xmen only to back stab magneto for ...jean.

In terms of acting and emotional intensity, simply the best comic book movie ever made. Nothing else comes close, including Dark Knight.

Logan is brutal. Not just the fight scenes, although seeing Wolverine go berserk had me whispering, "Finally, motherfuckers!" to myself while watching it. No, what takes a toll watching this movie is the harrowing scenes of loss, guilt and pain, expertly portrayed by some of the finest actors working today - and I include Dafne Keen in that number. In spite of sharing the screen with two heavyweights, both of whom are determined to bring their A Game to their final film in their respective roies, Keene effortlessly holds her own. She manages to convey innocence, fear, rage, love and grief in spite of not saying a word for two thirds of the film. Her final scene, which is also the end of the movie...well, let's just say the cinema was very dusty...:(

Logan himself makes the point several times that real life isn't like the comics, and the film reinforces this time and again. It's not just bad guys who die. The farmhouse scene is a real, Oh fuck they really went there! moment.

There are flaws. The Big Bad(s)are underwhelming, although Pierce's death scene is sadistically enjoyable. X 24 bears a strong resemblance, physically at least, to Liv Schreiber, but without the personality that made his Sabertooth so watchable.

But these are minor complaints about a film that is otherwise damn near perfect. It's taken 17 years, but the Hugely Jacked Man has finally been allowed to give us the Wolverine we, and he, always wanted to see on screen. And in the process he's set the bar for all comic book movies to come.

Would some of you guys agree that part of the very high accolades and enthusiasm for this movie is because it just came out , and Wolverine dying has caused an emotional reaction to rate it soo high?

I say the above because I really don't see how this movie can be rated higher than Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

I wouldn't. It's simpler and more straight forward than TDK, but that shouldn't be mistaken for not being on the same level story-wise. If anything, it being the first real Wolverine movie might be inflating perception.

I don't quite understand the high praise for Logan, I just chalked it up to being the better "Wolverine" movie and having a violence based rating more suited to the character.

The emotional reactions people are having are a bit much, but things affect people differently, so okay.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the movie, but I didn't enjoy it like some of youse guys did and that's okay.

Drove through a blizzard to see this last night. Was worth every minute of the drive. Fantastic and very poignant movie. The performances were all wonderful. Fitting end to the jackman/Stewart characters.

You could tell that Jackman and Stewart knew this was going to be their last chance at nailing the characters, so they left it all on the field:cool:

I gotta say I completely agree. I think this movie benefits from it's predecessors being so terrible.

1. It's very emotional, yes, definitely tugs on some primal humanism that we can all relate to. But it's kinda easy to get people feeling when you're working with destroyed versions of 2 beloved characters/actors. Seeing Logan and Professor X die was gonna hit people no matter what.

2. Honestly I wasn't blown away by the action. Outside of blood and severed limbs, what was new? X-23 fights like a WCW cruiserweight from 1999 like all other girl superheroes, and Logan wasn't exactly bringing a new style to the table. It was done well but I wasn't blown away by it like the reviews had me expecting.

3. The villains were ok. The best was Peirce until he was neutered be Xander and X-24. But even before that he felt out of place, we had no insight into his motivation. It's an emotional movie so motivation is gonna make the character. He was just an empty bad guy working for a badder guy ultimately. And that badder guy was a schlocky stereotype who was essentially a guy with a leash.

I would've preferred a more rabid, feral X-24. Something that not only can't be controlled, but something that couldn't control itself. I would've loved him abruptly killing Peirce and Rice and Co. then having to be stopped by Logan and Lara. Would've made the conflict with Wolverine be a stronger visual representation of his internal conflict.

Loved the movie but TDK is still a tier above it. That movie made you feel like you just did a gram of coke at your 5th bday party when Oldman finished and that logo hit. And what are comic book movies ultimately trying to achieve, if not that?

Dat Cokehead Five-Year-Old feel

Why do we love beating the shit out of little girls and sending them down to the market?

We long for domestic abuse that solves our hunger issues? Don't ask me I've been on cocaine for 27 years.

I didn't know that X-23 was a real MARVEL character. I stop reading Wolverine and the X-Men books in the Mid - 90's. Either way that would be a reinvention of the "Wolverine" character in my eyes, a passing of the torch anyway, but they pulled it off well if that is the case.

What I meant was look at Iron Man, Capt. America, and the other Avengers who will eventually have to die off. That is what I mean. Batman has had 5 actors in almost 9 films in 20 years. Now that technology has caught up to the MARVEL universe is this the fate of Wolverine - Iron Man . . . Reboot after reboot? I fear so.

Yeah as far as Wolverine, that character is now a female. They are also trying out a black teenage girl in the Iron Man armor. The Falcon is the current Captain America, but we gotta see how the current Steve Rodgers story line plays out in the comics. If this new kid doesn't pan out as Spider-Man then I see them giving Miles Morales a go in the future.

The more I think about Logan, the higher I rate it. It's like the film is still simmering in my mind, getting better as I reconsider scenes I didn't fully appreciate in the moment.

I desperately need to see it again, and wish I could do so without the distraction of an audience.

It definitely get's better your second or third viewing. Many things I didn't pick up in my first because I was in awe of seeing everything for the first time.

Even after seeing it multiple times the emotional parts hit me harder on the repeated viewings.

I went in with certain expectations, I'm ready to see it properly now.

Yep. There are some movies where people appreciate it a bit more after their second viewing because they are no longer chained to their expectations on what they want the movie to be and just enjoy the movie for what it is.

Take me for example. After I left the theater, I was armchair writing/directing some parts of the movie in my mind. I wanted a grander finale for Charles and not the abrupt death he received. I wasn't also thrilled with Wolverine clone X-24 as the final opponent. But after a few hours to think it over, I've learned to accept and appreciate them.

Though I still have a tweaked-out version of the third act in my head that doesn't drastically alter what happened in the actual movie but just makes it better IMO. (Sometimes I feel I could be a great script doctor in another life)

After thinking about it it makes perfect sense.

Wolverine has been fighting many great adversaries throughout years from Sabretooth, Magneto, Jean Grey gone Rogue, Silver Samurai, etc.

Yet his final opponent, the toughest, the one that takes him out, is himself. Fucking beautiful and genius.

...

Damnit...

She had an accent in the film! An 11 year old that could act through facial expressions and body language throughout the majority, badass stunts and when she did speak she was bilingual with a convincing accent!

PRODIGY!

I'm definitely stealing this.
