i am in search of books that will scare me into sleepless nights. recently, i have read 'bird box' and 'the ruins,' both from reddit recommendations. both were decent and had their 'oh shit' moments but neither were in the vein of, "whelp, there goes sleep for a while."
honestly, the 'scariest' book i have ever read was 'the road.' and it wasn't scary at all in the traditional sense, but i definitely felt the hopelessness of their situation.
help me feel alive inside.

Great read but man that closure left me unsatisfied. This is long but so damn good. I couldn’t stop reading it and it’s best to do it with no lights on.
