i am in search of books that will scare me into sleepless nights. recently, i have read 'bird box' and 'the ruins,' both from reddit recommendations. both were decent and had their 'oh shit' moments but neither were in the vein of, "whelp, there goes sleep for a while."

honestly, the 'scariest' book i have ever read was 'the road.' and it wasn't scary at all in the traditional sense, but i definitely felt the hopelessness of their situation.

help me feel alive inside.

Have you read Dracula? It's my favorite novel. I highly suggest it if you haven't already read it

i have read stoker's 'dracula' and shelley's 'frankenstein.' it's been a while and a revisit of the classics isn't out of the question. i don't remember finding either all that scary though.

It's about some bitch who doesn't wash her cunt.

Frankenstein was creepy as fuck. It was pretty immersive and the monster was haunting.

Dracula was an incredibly boring read.

I didn't find bird box all that scary, but it was pretty creepy.

The only books I remember actually making me scared are a few of the stephen king shorts.

The southern reach trilogy will give you very strange feelings, especially the first book

Take mushrooms and read the old testament

Google 'interview with a nullo'.

You may never sleep again.

watch the documentary "Dear Zachary", you'll learn human beings are scarier than any other shit out there

I read true crime stories online sometimes and cant sleep

Get scared? lol It isn't book related, but I just had a moment.

I'm house/dog sitting for some friends who went out of town and just moved into their house last weekend.

So just now in a pitch black house at 1am, all three dogs start losing their shit. I look around and check outside and everything and see nothing. They still are on high alert freaking out.

It just occurred to me that if in the worst case scenario it ended up being something...I don't even know what the address is here. I only know how to get here from following people. While helping with the move. lol

Books dont really scare me but IT by Steven King is as good as it gets in terms of horror fiction. My favourtie genre.

check out the portent and the keep

i had high hopes for 'annihilation,' but i ended up not really caring for it at all. quit the series right there.

Fair enough. It was easily the best one, so if you didn't like it don't bother
NOTHING is explained

Check into Nick Cutter.

My husband read and enjoyed The Troop.

I read and enjoyed The Deep. More horror than Bird Box.
