List of surprisingly physically strong fighters

i'm interested in where you heard about Rumble's grip strength. not that i think you're lying, just that i'm genuinely interested in what they talk about his grip strength.

i've heard grip strength is a good indicator on how strong a person is physically.
Ah, i think it was from a countdown show, Rumble talked about how his uncle or grandfather or someone told him that when he was young he was able to screw in bolts or something with his bare hands while the others had to use tools.

thanks. i remember on one of the build up shows to a UFC back in the day, Jens Pulver had specific training just for his grip strength where he was doing pull ups with tennis balls on the bar or osmething, to make it harder to grip.

he attributed his punching power to his grip strength, i wonder if that's where Rumble's power comes from also.

I think people are stating guys who aesthetically pleasing or are HWs. Guys like Fitch, Okami and Maia would be my response. Very unassuming but when they get a hold of you you are not getting away.

i agree with Fitch and Maia, but Okami looks strong. he's always in phenomenal shape.

There is nothing surprising about Cro Cop being strong. Look at the size of his legs. He is/was an absolute monster. 6'2 235

All true but to be honest he was never one of the biggest/heaviest HWs and not even a grappler, with grappling usually providing the strongest fighters... still many commented about how crazy strong he is

To add some

Fedor- most commented his speed/explosiveness, but i remember comments also on his strenght for a not-gigantic man. Last i remember, Bob Sapp said Fedor felt stronger than RoidReem to him

BigNog- used to have "gorilla grip" strenght in his hands

Lindland- i don't remember who said he's slow af and absolutely not explosive but still somehow insanely strong

Btw must be noted that a good/great wrestler will ever feel stronger than he actually is

To that add that wrestling make you strong af, but still

Crocop was super jacked and failed the very first and only random PEDS test he ever took. He had a cartoonishly bad career spiral in the states, almost immediately after winning the Grand Prix. He's back to looking super jacked and winning fights overseas.

How is it confusing or surprising that a guy on PEDS with huge muscles is physically strong?

FFS Latifi? He's a power lifter built like a can of soup.
Technically he didn't fail it, he informed them that he had taken HGH for an injury but he ended up passing the test.

There was another gif of rampage from after he was in mma,in a gym where he picks a guy up and just lets him fly and its insane. Ill do sexual favors to get that gif again if anyone has it.

Admitting you took PEDS immediately pursuant to a random PEDS test is failing.

Didn't read the whole thread but noticed Volkmann wasn't on the first page. That guy has to be at the top of a "doesn't look it but has freakish strength" thread, as confirmed by multiple pro fighter sources

Relatively speaking, obviously Rumble is strong but i heard that he was exceptionally strong and i think he's stronger than a lot of heavyweights

I dont think thats surprising. Hes a big, jacked guy who could easily fight at HW. Hes probably stronger than Ngannou.

When Mir was doing commentary, he always put over Joe Stephenson as having tremendous power, especially in his guillotine. For Mir, a guy known for having some serious crushing strength in submissions, to say that about someone he outweighed by about 100 pounds---I always thought that was a pretty strong endorsement.

A lot of fighters have called Ken Shamrock the strongest guy they've ever trained with. Not that he doesn't also look like a strong guy, but fighters who have said that have put Ken above even bigger guys like Lesnar, Monson, Coleman, etc.

I've always liked this GIF because he's lifting him from so high on the chest as opposed to a wasitlock.
That's exactly the thing, the leverage must have been insane
