Social Linkedin and I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as ...

I've been working for the same company for a long time, and I never really needed one. I'm now thinking of switching fields, so I looked into it a bit. The level of phoniness on there is beyond sickening. I'm still trying to debate whether there's any way of avoiding taking part in it.
Can you share what field you're leaving and where you're going?

Just curious. I've been thinking about a move myself. Either out of sales, or maybe still in sales but at a different company.

BTW some Linkedin comment sections can be pretty great. I saw a post about a city council providing free "ladies saniitary items" in public toilets. Roundly supported except for one bloke who asked whether they'd be providing free razors in the men's toilets!

Something like 189 comments, dude got a train ran on him, and on a professional network too ha ha

Keeping it pretty broad, I work in sales/tourism industry. I make decent money, but I’m a little sick of it. I’m thinking of going into tech/software.

Networking is a huge part of my job, so LinkedIn is a great tool for that.
The worst things on LinkedIn that I come across is people treating it like Facebook, meaning they post about private stuff that nobody care about or they scream about politics.
Keep that shit on Facebook or what ever.

This. It used to be a great professional networking tool. It's still pretty good but has started to become watered down with people treating it like their personal blog. Or people posting political stuff, or just ads and spam from recruiters and sales people.
It's still the best place for professionals though.
