I avoid the posts and comments because people are annoying try hards on that site.

But, I do keep my profile up to date because I've gotten jobs because of it. So in that regard it's good for networking.

It is boring because it is used as visit card for potential business partners or someone who might hire you etc.

# so ppl usually are keeping sterile behaviour like it is motivation letter plus CV.

So boring and correct posts etc ....mainly...
 
I remember when this shit kicked off and everyone was trying to network. Hahaha no.


Years later I was taking a graduate course and the instructor wanted us to craft this massive social media presence to enhance our professional outreach or someshit. She was shocked when some of the old guys didn't even have a Facebook account - she was speechless when we didn't have a LinkedIn. I desperately wanted to give her my Sherdog username to see her PTSD the following day.

I have Linked In and FB accounts. I don't use often and these are too " correct " and really cold .. .
Researchgate likes me a lot btw..ofc different niche..

Yes it's fake and awkward. I need it as i'm in sales, necessary to find people sometimes, share my company's posts occasionally etc etc

I recall when I got my MBA, I was going to do some post about how good it was to finish, thanking my wife for her patience and all that. I wrote it out and just couldn't post it, wasn't me, I hate wanky posts like that so would be hypocritical if I did.

Funnily enough I get approached by Asian companies a lot trying to work with me, they're nearly always female and attractive, not sure the photos are legit ha ha

I really told: do you think that I do have duty to check this stuff each day ?
You have phone and e- mails ....if can't call or send mail, then...

They just raised property taxes there ! So brutal

Almost was tempted to sell but the place is gold just can’t do it.

rented it to a couple who moved from New Hampshire and they fell in love with the place.

LinkedIn peaked for me back in 2019 when a 21-year-old life coach started popping into my feed.

That's exactly what disgusted me about it too. I would see all these phony "friends" and acquaintances suited up w/ties and the biggest wall of bulls*** for their profiles.

I gave in around 2023 as the job market became extremely challenging and needed to cover all the bases.
