Lets talk footwear - Sneaker/Boots/Etc

Thought this would be an original discussion for Mayberry. What do you guys wear on your feet on a day-to-day basis?

These are my boot shelves, and the only things not on here are two pairs of Timberlands I'm shining up and my running shoes.

I'm partial to work boots, because they last longer.

These Timberlands are the 'WhiteSnake' limited edition, quite rare, and really tricky to clean. Don't want to rub on them too hard or some of the whiteness would rub off, or I don't want to risk rubbing too hard.

They look awesome with black jeans, white long sleeves, and a black vest.

I've had these cowboy boots for two years and I can tell you guys cowboy boots are an acquired taste and I have yet to wear these enough to acquire the taste. Probably worn them five or six times and they certainly look stylish, but I don't have the other cowboy clothes to compliment them right.

Kinda feel like a poser.

Although I'm already 6'0, those heels damn near make me 6'2".

'Hellcat UltraSpring 6" CarbonMAX Work Boot'
Wolverine makes the most comfortable steel-toe work boots I've worn, even better than Timberlands. These needed NO break-in and are as comfortable as sneakers, if sneakers weighed 3.5 pounds each.

Highly recommended.

'Anthem Western Wellington Work Boot'
These Wolverine soft-toes are what I think cowboy boots SHOULD wear like. They're like sneakers, and I even ran in them a little when I wore them the first day.

They look great if you have other darkish-tan clothing to match them with, and I've found that darkish-tan isn't the most common color for clothing at stores. I'm thinking I'll have to settle for light brown clothing to match them with.

Also, has anyone ever seen those 'Thursday Boots' advertisements on YouTube and Instagram? Well after 2 freaking years of seeing them I figured I'd order a pair and... well, if you guys are interested I'll keep you guys abreast if they're worth the $200.

One of my fvvoritte pairs of boots, I bought while working in Italy. I had packed In a hurry and forgot my boots.

Anyway I bought a pair in the small town we were in at a local bookmakers shop.

They all had shorter shafts than the. Other “cowboy “ boots I have , but said F it I needed some boots.

They are awesome and have a story..

My next favorite pair is my old ass roach kicker cowboy boots. Funny story with these I used to never wear them out, as they are quite torn up but every now and again I’ll wear them to the office just to be different. Number of years back I swung by the local watering hole after work. To meet up with some friends.

One of my buddies girls had some cute. Chick with her.

We strike up a conversation and getting on well. Anyway she sees my boots and starts to go on and on. About how she grew up riding horses And yah. Yah. Anyway bit later I go get a drink or something and walk away from the table. Walk back. And she got a better look at my boots.

They are all torn up in the back, she asks me how it happened, she’s never seen boots worn in the back like. That before.

I said I thought you said you grew up riding horses , she says I did!!

I said it’s from the stirrup and Spurs sweetheart. Good. Day LOL.

I normally wear Justin’s everyday. I have some Ariat and some. Stetsons. But I just like my plain ass Justin’s the most.

what I’ve worn my whole life pretty much.

Sperry moc boat shoes for work (they feel very much like sneakers but still look classy).

Nike Air max plus for the gym (look all black!)

Just customized a pair of air max 90s and received them the other day- black and green combo to go with some really cool green stuff I have in my wardrobe.

Not that hard honestly. Also I didn't hear a denial hahahah

I don't know. I would like just plane black sneakers I can wear at work and outside of work. I wish it didn't even have the etnies stuff on it. I don't want boots or shoes. If I was wearing shoes to try to be cool I would go back to wearing FILA.

I've got a desk job but work boots have always been my go-to weekend DIY warrior/casual shoes.

I used to like Wolverines, but felt like the quality on my last 2 pairs wasn't what it used to be. Right now I'm rocking these guys - Caterpillar 2nd Shift (mine doesn't have the steel toe). Apparently the sole is modeled after the treads of a bulldozer. Cool idea, but realistically these things pick up so much mud/clipped grass that it's a PITA.

For my next pair I might give these a try.....never had a pair of Moc Toe boots before, but I hear good things about the Rock Rooster brand.

Hmm I like those 2nd ones. Do they come in black green or suede?

How wide are they?

Not particularly wide I don't think. My feet are normal width so I may not be able to answer too well. Maybe someone in the Amazon comments brought it up, though.

iu

Aquarium shoes. Best footwear for pimping.

I'd be interested in hearing how they hold up because I've seen them advertised but do not have any stores nearby where I can try them on.

So I received my pair of grey Captains much faster than I expected (2 days), and normally I wear size 11s in work boots (Wolverines & Timberlands) and with sneakers its completely random and depends on the brand - anything from 10.5 to 12, and Thursday Boots recommends ordering a half size lower than what you wear with regular shoes.

So I ordered the Captains in size 11 and thought that'd be around the right size. I was right in it being AROUND the right size, but they're a bit too snug. I'm probably going to return them to either get a 11.5 or 12. I'm thinking the 12 to be 100% sure they're not too small, and I can just tighten the laces down.

Otherwise, they're quality boots but I can't quite tell if the quality is actually better than my regular work boots. I guess time will tell.

I have several pairs of Allen Edmonds. I stopped wearing them though. They aren't comfortable and I will stop lying to myself that they are.

I'll keep you in mind. They do offer free returns for a different size, but its always best to get it right on the 1st try.

Most reviews online for them are like reviews for most products, made within days of receiving the product.

I've seen some long-term reviews on YouTube that are very conflicting. One claims his pair have lasted 4 years with little maintenance and practically abusing them. The reviewer runs a large-scale Boot Review channel, and I suspect he's a mouthpiece for the manufacturers.

And these guys are doing a review for their pairs after wearing them a year. Just 1 year. Its somewhat concerning that one of them had their pair fall apart only after wearing them a few months, and both of their pairs look 'meh' after a year and even the new replacement pair a few months old looks.... meh.

So, although Thursday Boots is marketed as the best boots ever that look and feel great and will last forever no matter what you do in them.... my suspicion is its best to use them as everyday urban boots for style, but it wouldn't be the best decision to go hiking in them or use them as work boots.

I would normally avoid an expensive product that I detect some fuckery in their marketing & reviews. But I'm giving these $200 boots a shot rather first before going up to the $300, $400, or $500+ brands.

One of the Thursday boot ads I've seen shows a guy jumping into a mud puddle with them, on what looks like a work site. However, the guy is wearing skinny jeans with cuffs. I'd call that a red flag that these boots are meant for casual wear, not work.

They look nice for that purpose, but I wouldn't try to dig a ditch in them.
