It was a very close fight, and an amazing back and forth. I think Costa edged it out but would have been satisfied either way.

I would have strongly disagreed with a romero 29-28. That's the problem with the current scoring, had Romero landed just a couple more shots in the 2nd, he could have won that fight despite losing it overall. I don't know how or why the scoring has stayed the same after all these years

He literally has put guys out with a single big blow. His power is always a threat. Costa is just much more superior with his technique in the standup and probably tougher but Derek has shown to have a one hitter quitter.

Israel may not be as powerful but his accuracy has allowed him to KO and drop multiple tough opponents with a single well placed shot.

This isn't speculation here folks. I'm talking about what has really happened.

Yeah he is actually a pressure and volume striker. I can't think of an actual knockout in the UFC. He does have power though.

Costa chose speed and volume over heavier loaded shots that one shot knock people out but would be slower for him. They also take more energy. I think he made right choice in being a pressure fighter, hes 13-0 clearly its working well. Think he could one shot knock out people if he really committed/timed it though.

People are so ignorant when it comes to defining power. Costa most certainly has power, he just happens to be quite a telegraphed striker, so it's much harder to surprise someone which is how most one punch KO's happen.

I can tell most people here haven't had any combat experience. It's the punches which you don't see coming which are the ones which KO you. Speed X Mass = Power. So I'm going to say something which will rile a lot of Sherdoggers on here, but I've always thought this - Mark Hunt has overrated power. Guy hits hard, but no where near as hard as people make him out to be. The majority of his KO's (and even then, they didn't go out cold) came from sneaky shots which his opponents didn't see coming.

When it comes to Costa, his opponents can see his shots coming, but they still go down (albeit not out cold due to seeing the punch coming). So if Costa had more speed and sneaky counters, you can bet top dollar people would be going out cold.

I don't think anyone is doubting that he has power. Certainly not me, the OP. But based on your assessment of Costa's style, that it's unlikely that it's unlikely that Costa goes in there and one shots Israel , contrary to many saying that with Costa's power all he needs is one?

Many here believe Costa's best chance is rushing and pressuring Israel early and tryna to "catch" him. I believe Costa has to be prepared to be the smarter, more technical fighter for the better part of 5 rounds.
