Can't chama be translated to something like "let's go". Seems like Jiri's catchphrase of "Let's go for that" is a very similar vibe to chama. I've noticed that both Alex and Jiri share a lot in their overall characters and fanbases. Both fighters look like they could have been in the Street Fighter video game. Also they have a certain level of authenticity and aggressive fighting styles. I think their careers will be thought of together similar to Shogun and Machida. Made it all the more cool when they showed Jiri getting emotional in the crowd when Alex finished Ank.

Also on a separate thought, I think Jiri's gameplan in the third fight could be to use grappling to tire Alex out in the first two rounds. Once he loses the pop to his punch, he could just blitz attack him in the later rounds and out cardio him to a TKO. It could be similar to Izzy where he needed multiple fights with Alex before figuring out a winning strategy.

Problem with that is that a wrestling heavy approach is also likely to tire a primarily striking fighter like Jiri out as well, and thus far, Alex has shown pretty solid TDD and scrambles to get back up.

But anything to switch it up differently would be wise for Jiri, as Alex has seemed to have his number in the standup, save for a couple of moments in the first fight where Prochazka tagged him, early on.

But Jiri might regain the strap soon if Alex moves up to HW, which he seems to be leaning towards, if not immediately, maybe after one more defense.

What is the origin of "let's go for that"?
In the latest Jiri interview on Ariel's show, he credited Nina Drama for helping him come up with it... saying it sounds cool. Guess we have something to thank her for outside of her awful content ha.

to me it's the equivalent of a caveman going ooga booga. or a bro going. suh.

1. Alex's career will be linked to Izzy, not Jiri. Alex has dominantly finished Jiri twice--it's not a rivalry.
2. Using the word "authenticity" to describe someone who cosplays as a feudal samurai is a bit dubious.
3. Grappling Alex is a good idea, but not for the purpose of draining his power. Alex doesn't "lose the pop." But I do think a high-level grappler (not Jiri) would be trouble for Alex.
4. There won't be a 3rd fight, so the point is moot.

Yeah I just meant authentic in terms of not having their manager talk sh*t on twitter. Its not about manufacturing beef but just fighting for them two. Also technically Alex also cosplays... although at least in his case its related to his indigenous roots.

these two fighters single handedly make the light heavyweight division special.

I also want to say, I hope that rountree jr has silenced all his doubters. he's absolutely a title contender worthy competitior even with the ranking he's had. hill was a champ and rountree beat him easy styles. gave Alex and jiri a handful. He's a defacto top 5 LHW. Jiri's win means something, Rountree is no slouch, I still believe he has a strong future in this division.

The direct translation of "chama" is "blaze" (as in fire) but it does coloquially mean "let's go". Similar to how Brazilians use "porra" to say "awesome" but its literally translation is "cum".
