Lesser Known MMA facts

Former UFC MW Jorge Rivera beat former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia in each of their second amateur MMA fights back in 1999. Sylvia didn't lose again until 5 years later when Frank Mir took his arm home.
 
I've got some facts on local lad Jimi Manuwa, but I don't like the attention of the police so I can't say.:eek: You'll know what I mean, just have a think.
 
James TeHuna got his UFC contract on the back of a tournament win over Anthony Perosh in Australia, but he should have been DQed in that win.
He KOed Perosh with punches and then after the referee stopped the fight and had separated them, TeHuna muscled his way back to Perosh and stomped on his head.

Not only was it way after the separation, but head stomps (or any kicks to the head of a downed opponent) are also illegal under the rules of that state.

The video is up on youtube and the headstomp is conveniently edited out.

Australian Muay Thai legend John Wayne Parr has an MMA loss to Tony Bonello. JWP was significantly outsized and Bonello took him to the ground immediately.

I know similar stories of a local lad to me.... been in many UFC fights, I've never seen a word about it online so I'm not saying the name...
 
A lot of people don't know that Marquardt usually always got the better of GSP in the gym when GSP was at his peak

Incorrect. Jason DeLucia defeated Trent Jenkins via RNC in the alternative bout before the Tournament took place (which wasn't aired though).

I was not a fan of O'Briens fights.
Some of the worst stand-up around.
 
They legit thought about putting a moat with alligators around the octagon for UFC 1
