Lesser Known MMA facts

I almost hate the UFC more for editing out that nasty affair. Good for Shogun destroying the guy the UFC put in front of him to make a name for himself. Shogun's the man

The UFC didn't edit it for what it's worth. That would have been done by whoever uploaded the clip.

Royce Gracie was chosen to fight in the UFC because he was the small, nice one lol...
The actual story is pretty cool. Royce was the smallest of the brothers and the Gracies really wanted to show that BJJ evened the odds and allowed a smaller man to beat a bigger man. I heard it on a Rogan podcast, probably with Eddie Bravo.

Wouldn't be surprising if the UFC had something to do with it though.

Lyoto Machida drinks his own piss!

I honestly doubt the UFC even knows about it. It was swept under the carpet pretty tidily in Australia.
There is plenty to blame the UFC for, the editing of that video just isn't one of them.

Dominic cruz has never dropped an opponent with a punch.

So I could be wrong...o_O

Dont steal my facts bro!!!

But you are correct at least regarding his zuffa career (last 12 fights).

Fightmetric will confirm fyi.

Josh Koscheck broke his orbital bone in a fight against GSP in Montreal. In spite of breaking it the fight wasn't stopped and he faught with it.

After the fight, Koscheck was unable to fly due to the pressure on his eye by the break. He was driven to Boston by the UFC to recieve surgery before being able to go home.

Anyone who would doubt how tough Kos is should watch that fight, GSP was deliberately jabbing him in the broken orbital but there was no give in him. He was out on his feet from memory but went the distance, boss.

Anderson Silva once planned to murder Raphael Cordeiro with a shotgun because Cordeiro slapped him in an arguement about Silva teaching BJJ at the gym.

rewatched it, scottie touches the ground with his left hand but doesn't go down. Awesome fightthough.

Fyi: first min of round 3.

I don't know if "knockdown" is defined specifically for MMA but in almost any combat sport if your hand makes contact with the mat it's a knockdown. I could see it being different in MMA because grappling.

It is a good fight. It was the first time I saw Cruz fight and I remember being quite impressed.

GSP believes hes been abducted by space aliens.. He developed a sword fighting style just for the aliens if they ever try to get him again

Anderson Silva almost retired back in his pride days. He was unsatisfied with his career and told his friend and training partner Minotauro Nogueira that he wanted to retire. Nogueira talked him out of it and convinced him to continue pursuing his dreams of being a champion.

not the the full story. What you wrote is correct but he also asked Big Nog to borrow him some money so that he could open a car wash in his hometown. Big Nog refused and told him he wouldn't borrow him the money and will train him for free instead. The rest is history. That's why Silva is so emotional every time Big Nog fought. When he won he would break down in tears and when he lost and he entered the cage he would refuse to shake his opponents hands.

I also believe he said he would have been a cop if he hadn't been a fighter since most of his family are cops.

Shogun was KOed in a fight at a house party when he was young. There's a video of it available on the Internet.

Stephan Bonnar is one of two UFC hall of famers that never became a UFC champion. The other one was a non-fighter, Charles Lewis.
Krystof Sosynzski(sp) is the only guy to have a win over Bonnar who never hold a UFC belt.

Murilo Bustamante actually submitted Matt Lindland twice in one fight.
