Leon Scott on Colby: "If he didn't have cardio he'd be a s**t fighter"

triathletes is too much cardio for MMA, not the same cardio at all btw.

I never said colby wasn't technical, I said compared to the other fighters in the top 5, he is the less technical. That's fact.
Took down Woodley though.

If Maia didn't have his bjj
If Ngannou didn't have his KO power
If Tony didn't have perfect form on his lifting exercises!!! (metal gear solid ! sound)
If GSP didn't have his wrestling

yeh but he does have cardio sooooooo.......

Lol Marty couldn't even finish Woodley

Colby beat RDA and Maia way more dominantly than Marty did too
Lol RDA and maïa took rounds of Colby lmao, RDA took Colby twice. Usman was utter dominance. Believe what u want, but watch them fight, it is pretty clear who is more technical...

Colby gave away 1 round max to RDA and 0 to Maia

Score was 30-26, again you have no idea what you're watching

Marty beat RDA 48-47, closer than Colby's fight against RDA

Colby made up the nickname because the joke is that no one knows nor cares who tf Leon is, and doesn't bother to get his name correct

Someone on Twitter also said Leon Scott was the name of a gay pornstar so it could be that too lol
Colby would know

If francis didn't have his KO power, he wouldn't make the UFC.

Who gives a shit. They have attributes. That's what makes them good fighters. Leon is weird.

True, but

if Khabib didn’t have a leg, he’d be a shit fighter

If Conor didn’t have a left hand, he’d be a shot fighter

And so on

But you can say that about every fighter ever. lmao
Try harder Leon Scott

In general yes...but there are exceptions

IE : Francis has questionable cardio but he has so much power that it sort of compensate for it. Doesn't always work as seen in the Stipe fight but he still can get away with it more often than not because he just fuck up guys early with bombs

Grappling oriented fighters will always have more issues with shit cardo than striking oriented fighters with good power. Because it takes a tons more stamina to grapple than to strike. So Leon Scott is right about Colby but he's kind of being CaptaIn Obvious

Clay Guilda had cardio for days. That didn't make him a top fighter. Cardio alone doesn't win fights. Colby has good wrestling, not Usman good, but one of the top in the division. His striking may be rudementary, but it's doing the job. Also Colby does great under pressure, he got his chin cracked for 2 rounds and kept his poker face on.

His antics are boring, but in the octagon he is a top fighter.

And the kind of thinking Edwards shows is kinda juvenile. "If Colby didn't have his cardio"... what if Black Beast didn't have his power? Jones didn't have his reach? DC didn't have his speed? Fighters build their style on their best attribute. If Colby didn't have his cardio, he could've got entirely different fight style.

I see what he is trying to say, doesn't hit hard, no kicks, average footwork and head movement, if his cardio wasn't elite then those weaknesses get exposed when he doesn't have enough gas to pressure and clinch. But this could also be applied to a lot of other fighters who don't have that one hitter quitter in their arsenal.

I actually think his kickboxing is underrated. Not elite or devastating or anything, but better than he gets credit for. Landed some nice body kicks on Woodley.

If Adesanya didn’t have striking he’d be a shit fighter...

If Khabib didn’t have wrestling he’d be a shit fighter...

As for Colby, sure, although his wrestling is elite & his kickboxing is getting a lot better. He does depend on his cardio/pace but that’s his style. Dumb comment really.

Colby always had some degree of cardio but not at his current output. He used to have a lower volume but all of a sudden after Maia, he had a second gear he could keep up just as long. Yeah he was pretty average before then

If Conor didn’t have his left hand he would be a shit fighter. If Barboza didn’t have good kicks he would be a shit fighter. If Khabib didn’t have his wrestling he would be a shit fighter.

he’s acting as if you’re born with good cardio.

It's not totally fair on Colby, because he could probably trade some of that cardio for more power with the right training and fighting style adjustment. It takes skill to win with less power dragged out over time

I'm a big fan of Leon Edwards' fights. This statement though... not the smartest one in my opinion... that's like saying Conor McGregor wouldn't be a double champ if it weren't for his striking.

He isn't wrong. His skill-set isn't really impressive; really mediocre striking; has pretty bad control; isn't powerful enough to finish anybody good; porous defense and isn't a good clinch fighter.

Edwards would finish him.
