I think McGregor vs Covington may have been too much to put up with for an entire TUF season. They are both so over the top with their antics that they are better taken in small doses.

I do think it would be a great fight to make, whether it is for the title or not. I agree the build up would be like nothing we have ever seen before as Colby is the only fighter that can match Conor's ridiculous character, but Conor does kinda need a win and has a much better chance at getting that against a remarkably overrated Chandler than the high intensity pressure, pace, and wrestling of Colby.

Not everyone can do that.
It takes literally years of planning, you need to resist the UFC pressure to renew your contract well before it ends.
Not a chance Leon did that, he wouldn't have had the title shot.

But if he chooses anybody other than Belal.

He loses me forever.

I’m working on a novel right now, about this very same shit. I don’t know which sub I should post it in.

Hopefully somebody creates a relevant thread in the Heavies. I’ll coattail all of that.

Well according to Sherdog they congratulate him standing up to Dana for getting a real titel contender for the match. That high level opponent seems to be Masdival <Lmaoo>

For real: In dont get the outrage. Kamaru clearly is above Colby but he just lost his title and they dont go the immideate rematch route. Chimaev has a lot of weight issues and imo should move up to MW. That only leaves Belal and Colby.
 
Well, a lot of people believe colby will sell more ppvs. So leon may want to fight him next for the $$$.
 
He will fight Colby. Other fights are too unpopular and dangerous. Masvidal deserves way less if it's between the two.
 
You know this is all about money right? He’s the champ now so he will demand fights and try to sit out as long as possible to retain his title for as long as possible. That’s the blue print these days for champions.

if Colby is the fight then the ufc either needs to cough up more money for the fight for Leon or strip him if he refuses. It’s not up the the champ to do the matchmaking.

It’s high risk for him. Champs these days tend to take the easiest route to try to preserve their title. There are exceptions of course such as with jones who will fight anyone but a lot know their time is short and want to suck it completely dry.

I find it hard to believe Edwards would insist on fighting Belal or Burns over Colby, don’t forget he has PPV points and a fight with Colby is probably doubling the buys of the other two for a similar level of opponent.

I think he’s putting all his eggs in the Masvidal basket, if Gilbert wins in Miami and calls Leon out, I suspect Leon will change his tune and become far more receptive to the Colby fight.
 
strip him of the belt. ufc needs to keep divas under the thumb.

I don't even think Nate Diaz was ranked, so Leon's only top 10 win was 3 years before he fought for the title.

Colby beat #7, #3, #1, #5 and #6 and had 2 FOTY candidates with the champ, and wasn't given any immediate rematches, he fought to keep his spot after each.

Khamzat would have been next, but couldn't make weight and seems to be going to 185 now, so it's Colby, who’s been the consensus best guy after the champ for 4 years.

If he wasn't, Leon wouldn't be trying to duck him, and you'd be betting all your money on Leon when they fight, but you're not, and Leon is trying to "defend" against a guy Colby dominated, and already got 2 title shots himself and lost bady in both.
 
Leon's about to get the Germaine de Randamie treatment
