It's not really the strength on the edibles...... it's the 6 hours ur stoned. Smoking ur stoned maybe 1 to 2 hours and u can even turn it off to an extent by eating. Edibles ur stoned for a good 5 hours or more and eating only makes the edible stronger an last longer at least for me.Edibles or a vaporizer.
If it’s your first time, be very careful with edibles. Take a very small, measured dose to start off and see how it feels. They have the potential to be much more powerful than regular smoking. They’ve caused bad trips for people who didn’t know what they were getting into. Not my preferred means of intake but it’s not bad. I find it is more of a body high than in your head. Hard to explain for me, I am not a frequent user.
I’d say try a vaporizer but I’m not sure how that would work with your asthma. I have a vapium light portable vaporizer that’s hand held. Not overly expensive and no need for oils or anything. I just put my own home grown in it and it turns it to a vapour with no smell and not much taste either. It is much easier on the lungs than smoking it
Weed was decriminalized up here a few years ago and there's still no where for a person to buy it. The state has really missed the boat on that one because now we all just grow it out back. As if I'll ever buy it when I can grow 5 pounds in my backyard.I live in Illinois and recreational marijuana is supposedly about to become legal on January 1st 2020.
I am completely clueless as to how this system works. I'm looking for some insight from Sherdoggers who live in states that have already legalized.
How is the potency and price compared to what you used to buy illegally? Any other pertinent info that you want to throw at me is welcome. Thanks in advance.

I've seen a lot of conflicting info in this thread regarding the marijuana available from the dispensaries.Weed was decriminalized up here a few years ago and there's still no where for a person to buy it. Personally, I don't really like the weed that comes from the medical shops. They put weird shit in it that makes it taste unnaturally sweet too often, it's usually hydro, which I also don't care for and honestly doesn't seem to have the effect I like. I want to have fun, not take a nap.
Whats the law there? Can you grow it? Just do that, if you can.I've seen a lot of conflicting info in this thread regarding the marijuana available from the dispensaries.
Ultimately I'm just really stoked that I won't ever have to mess with drug dealers again.
It’s still so much cheaper than it ever was when it was illegal.yeah, they tax the shit out of it!
Only people with medical cards can grow it legally. And I don't know a damn thing about how to grow marijuana or anything else for that matter. I planted some bushes in front of my house a few years ago and I was pretty shocked that I was even able to keep them alive.Whats the law there? Can you grow it? Just do that, if you can.
I invest about 200 bucks in potting soil and plant food each summer and grow absurd amounts of weed without even trying. Do it once and you'll never feel right about buying it again.Only people with medical cards can grow it legally. May I know the health benefits of smoking pots?
It's not really the strength on the edibles...... it's the 6 hours ur stoned. Smoking ur stoned maybe 1 to 2 hours and u can even turn it off to an extent by eating. Edibles ur stoned for a good 5 hours or more and eating only makes the edible stronger an last longer at least for me.
To start off edibles dont do more than say 20mg ...... start at 10mg n maybe another if ur up to it.
Personally I love edibles n prefer it like on a Sunday when watching football or a ufc card n I can just chill for 5 hours. If I'm out around people always just smoke.
The dispensaries finally opened for legal recreational sales at 6:00 am this morning. I got there at 4:00 am. I didn't know what to expect line wise because I had read that people in Chicago were already lining up 2 days ago. But it wasn't bad yet. After about a half an hour someone came out and handed out numbers so we could wait in our cars. Thank God because it was fucking cold. I was #28. When I left the dispensary at about 6:45 am they were handing out #350.
I bought some bud and some edibles. They only had one strain of bud available. There was a lot of other stuff on the menu (155 choices of edibles) but I have no clue what a lot of it even is - like concentrates and something called RSO for example. What do you do with a concentrate?
In this thread I had been asking what to expect regarding the bud quality and I got conflicting info. I have no complaints whatsoever. It looks good, smells good, tastes good and works well. It is at least as good as what I used to get illegally, but it is more expensive.
I haven't tried the edibles yet. I've never had an edible before and I don't even really know what I bought.
