I have. pretty small percentage. I knew one that was 6'8" over 400lbs. nicknamed stacker, as in the burger king stacker. No surprise he knew the best places to eat. Funniest part is he was a bicycle cop.Interesting i don't think I've ever seen an obese Canadian cop , same job .
Edit: just checked with the wife , she can't remember seeing a fat Canadian cop either.
A lot of people sit that many hours during a week . Police man typically only work 3 days a week or 2 and half weeks and 1 and a half weeks off . They get a lot of time off so all that sitting and cant pack a lunch and no time to work out comments are just excuses .I talked to a female in law enforcement today. She said the amount of sitting and the hours are hard on you. You've gotta eat right which is tough. And work out when you're off duty.
Yes there are things they can do to stay healthy. It's not an easy job if that's what you're saying. They have health problems for a reason. Two reasons of which I stated. Because they have a lot more time than the average working adult to sit around and be lazy ? Because unfortunately that much is true . Compound that with eating a lot of fast food and sitting on your job and that is probably why the profession is full of fat people .Yes there are things they can do to stay healthy. I don't know if you just want to demonize law enforcement. But if you put the rest of the population into the job of a cop, you'd get the same results in terms of health. I agree they eat unhealthy. I already said that.Because they have a lot more time than the average working adult to sit around and be lazy ? Because unfortunately that much is true . Because if given that amount of off time lumped into a 4 day weekend most people would be equally as lazy as most over weight cops . It's just that they don't have jobs that allow for that kind of time off in large and frequent lumps .I don't know if you just want to demonize law enforcement. The way these statistics are calculated are misleading.
#1) "Law Enforcement" is a very broad umbrella, particularly in this study.
Corrections Officers, Fish and Wildlife (Game Wardens), Fire Marshalls, etc, TSA, etc are technically "Law Enforcement", and calculated as such in this study.
They are not "Police Officers" in the sense that you all know them. Police are generally much more fit, particularly when starting in the profession.
#2) People age poorly in high stress jobs.
There are other proffessions that score higher for stress and lower for obesity . I think as i stated before it has less to do with the actual job and more to do with the unusual type of hours they work versus play . If you had cops spread out their hours in a typical 9 to 5 5 days a week you will probably see obesity rates closer to that of other professions .

I think the hours have something to do with it. And part of that is having normal sleep hours. This female officer in her late twenties said she works like 2:30 pm to 11:30 pm. She is still in great shape. But she said the hours are tough on her. And she doesn't have the worst hours. There are other proffessions that score higher for stress and lower for obesity . Where, in the squad car? I dont think most are in a position to go back to the precinct to get their lunch out of the fridge on a regular basis
Probably not as stressful and they probably have better accommodations to bring their own food if they want
And new parents have worse sleep hours and they dont get a 4 day weekend . A lot of people are stressed , a lot of people buy their lunch , a lot of people are tired , a lot of people have no time to go to the gym , a lot of people sit most of the day at their job . But what a lot of people don't have is 3 day and 4 day weekends bi weekly .I think the hours have something to do with it. And part of that is having normal sleep hours. I've heard the divorce rates of cops is high. I think the power goes to some of their heads. Some women are also turned on by men in uniform so the temptation is real for officers to cheat on their wife. I'm not excusing it, the profession just is ripe for opportunity in having an affair on your wife. And some of them take advantage of that. It's scumbag behavior, but some do it anyway. And new parents have worse sleep hours and they dont get a 4 day weekend . Cops have lots of time to carry on extra martial affairs and sit around and drink .
I would kill for those hours.I think the hours have something to do with it. And part of that is having normal sleep hours.
