Law enforcement is most obese profession - study

The rest of those guys are body builder types, myself included. At 5'10", 220 the Body Mass Index considers my build obese, which causes me to roid-rage out and stomp the ever living hell out of the index, then I taser it to be sure.
Let's be honest , those dudes are on roids .

You can always test my theory. Put a sandwich or left over dinner in a cooler bag, stuff it in the car trunk for 10-12 hours in the summer. Let's see if it's still edible
Officer stop being facetious . Like you're not going to have the air conditioning on full blast the whole time . As if your rotund figure can with stand sitting in a hot car for 12 hours .

My pimp hand is strong, I just have never used it. I have never punched or struck anyone in the face in almost 13 years as a leo, and most of my "fights" are little more than spirited wrestling matches with a few exceptions.
What about using your authority over people by trying to obtain sexual favours from the women civilians ?

By obese, do they mean like, actually obese or the, "you're six foot one and weigh more than 173lbs, so according to the BMI scale you're obese" kind of obese?

I'm pretty sure their definition is closer to "can't find your own dick under your lard flaps":

Not surprised give the stress, shift towards vehicular patrols over foot patrols in most places and the tendency towards cheap quick food given it may have to be abandoned at a moments notice to respond to a call
Interesting i don't think I've ever seen an obese Canadian cop , same job .

Edit: just checked with the wife , she can't remember seeing a fat Canadian cop either.

SMH.

Damn cortisol stress reactions! Probably more to do with getting discounts at all fast food joints does not help, either.

Out of the hundreds of police officers I have worked with, very few were what I would call obese-like the pictures of the fat cop with guts hanging over his belt. I was in the academy with 65 guys, and maybe two or three of those were fatties.

Most of the guys that I work with tend to be fairly skinny and between 160-190 lbs. But there are also quite a few that are over 200, and maybe 15-20 that are 220 and over. I would say of the guys over 220, maybe 3 are obese-with one of those guys being the fastest runner on the department.

I saw one of the units for the Phx Swat team. I'd say the average guy (there was about 10 of them) was 6'4 280 lbs. There was one smaller guy who was a wrestler. Biggest cop I saw was about 6'8" and was a guard for the New Orleans Saints and a Gracie Black Belt.

Cops would be in better shape if they were allowed to exercise during work hours and they should be able to since it is pertinent to their jobs. It's probably tough to work 10 hours plus OT in 110 degree weather and then go home to grapple and lift.

Maybe being out of shape has to do with why they always use excessive force?

Source is legit and peer reviewed (american journal of preventative medicine).
Probably because most get paid well, and they probably don't have huge school loans to pay off...more money for Five Guys! Oh, and they spend most of their time outside an office, hence, "Siri, please locate the nearest Five Guys!"

Meanwhile, all those other professions typically require years of schooling which equals years of paying off school loans.

Donuts>School loans

Funny you should mention it as a fat Toronto cop just made the Internet rounds

best cop there was the one who started punching. Cops can punch people for many different reasons, even passive resistance.

if the guy had a gun, it is reasonable to assume that she was creating distance and getting cover, which the other cop was also trying to do, but the good Samaritans were engaged. The fat lady cop then comes back over to help.

That being said, she needs to seriously consider quitting or getting into shape.

Daily exercise is good but nutrition and portion control is still the problem. Night shift working & inadequate sleep can cause the desire to eat more, burn less calories and feel less satiated. Shift work has many flaws. There are also many obese nurses, factory workers, truckers etc, basically any occupation that is correlated with night & shift working.
Old thread that got resurrected.... Anyhow, I work shift work. 12 hr shifts(days and nights) at a power generating plant. So many obese people it's unreal. Yes the stress can be high, yes working a 12 hr midnight takes its toll on your body. The biggest problem that I see though is the overeating. The amount of food that many of my Co workers consume is incredible. Not to mention the fact that doing anything that's physical aside from what's absolutely necessary is out of the question with them. I have seen guys wait on an elevator for 20 minutes instead of climbing one flight of stairs.

Here they have pretty strict guidelines for the fitness of cops. Fatasses would be told to get in shape or GTFO

My cousin works for the nypd. He's in pretty reasonable shape, but he's gained weight since joining about 10 years ago. Stress of job, shift work, lot of OT. Gonna make the easy fast food choice more often than not.

American cops need to hit the gym. They won't need to rely on their guns as much as they do, once they get in shape.

Even the Swedes have better cops (when they are allowed to actually do something):

So it includes security guards into this equation?

no offense to security guards but policemen and firemen they are not

doesn't surprise me, all they do is drive around and get free food

Annual fitness tests should be a must for these turds
