Kurt Pellegrino vs. Nate Diaz tonight....

you are comparing wagging of a finger to flipping two birds on live tv?

why did Pellegrino pick nate up and just kind of fell to his side? it didn't look like nate had anything on him. it looked kind of weird. and it didn't look like kurt was trying to defend the triangle either.

By wagging his finger he was basically saying "this guy can't sub me, lol @ him even trying".

i dont think he "ran through" the cast. He fought a close fight with a c level rob emerson, was taking a beating until he submitted cory hill or was it maynard- or both, either way potato potahto), a guy who apparently had never seen a submission 4 weeks prior, and was on his way to losing to gamburyan before he was injured ( he had clearly lost the first round). My instinct is he was teh 3rd best fighter on that show, Manny being 1, Lauzon 2, and Diaz 3.

diaz has looked good in his last 2 showings. but i think he is about to step up in comp, and lose. pelligrino gets the benefit of deciding where to fight. diaz will have to beat him everywhere to win. pelligrino just has to find something he can beat diaz at.

LOL go back to heavyweights, the fight lasted 20 seconds and all that happened was manny breaking his shoulder on Nates knee.

lol @ people bitching about "spoilers" on live events. It's not like this is being broadcasted from Japan or something.

Anyway, congrats to Nate. Awesome comeback.

I was joking about the spoiler part. I did have to tape it, but it was a live event and I was on Sherdog! What else should I expect, lol?

Back on topic, grats Nate! I love watching that guy fight.

actually, it lasted 1 full round, and 20 seconds into the second. noob.

Gracie Fighters!! Awesome job my young friend. We are all so proud of you!

Impressive win for nate, he showed some mental toughness after making it through the 1st round. It was also a beautiful technical triangle. I wonder when he'll be getting his BB?

He just got his brown so it will be a while.

come on now, this is not the heavyweight forum.

no one else thought: WTF? at the end of the fight?

maybe the thin air got to him, but it didn't seem to bother him throughout the fight.

This thread needs to be moved to the heavies immediately. All of this conversation is polluting the grappling forum.

I think what happened was when Kurt scooped Nate up to slam him, Nate started working a guillotine. When they hit the mat, Nate had his guard failry high up, so when Kurt slid out of the guillotine, Nate was able to catch him in his triangle.

cashbill and montanha, is the guillotine to triangle one of nates favorite moves? or is it just a coincidence that hes caught kurt pellegrino as well as buddy row(i refuse to call him corey hill, buddy row for life FTW) with it?

FUCKING SAVAGE!

I think Pelligrino just thought that he could stay tight and elbow smash for awhile in the guard. Keep the fight on the ground get some rest in a position where you can keep him on his back. Side mount takes a lot of energy to maintain control and his tank was getting emptier he had to be in a position to save energya nd maintain control.

^agreed. I think he was comfortable with his posture and GnP from in guard, and didn't think side control (where Nate could more easily scramble to an escape) was necessary. The only mistake Pellegrino made was mindlessly not recovering posture after a single leg takedown, where every blue belt knows to watch out for a triangle once you hit the mat.

Just saw the fight....(I liked pellegrino)... It looked like some kind of a takedown with a triangle setup already there.
