Is Khamzat Chimeav legit or still hype?

I mean in their style, not in the gap of victory performance between them and their opponents. They're both very in your face, with putting physical intangibles onto you. I don't expect Chimaev to have that same gap between him and his opponents performance the further he moves up the ranks. But if he continues to improve I think he can give the top of the WW division similar problems with that physical intangibility and putting it on guys. It's why i'd like to see Chimaev fight Wonderboy next. Burns just recently fought Wonderboy too. And although burns won, Wonderboy being his usual hard to get your hands on him style made it difficult for Gilbert to really build the momentum against him. Would tell us a lot to see how chimaev's performance compared to burns where they often employ similar styles of getting after it and seeing if you can handle their pressure/strengths.

Burns just wrestled Wonderboy to a decision, Wonderboy is only getting older and worse now and has never responded that well to pressure in my opinion. Id rather see Khamzat vs a more physical and athletic guy with either strong grappling or good defense. Burns vs Khamzat would please me.

Usman just fought fat LW journeyman Jorge Masvidal twice. I'm sure we will see him fight a dominant WW prospect like Khamzat.
I hope so but Khamzat has to wash a few more cars before he gets a TS I'm betting.

If you want to fast track him to a title eliminator yeah that would be a good match. But do they want to rush him into that that fast is the question I guess. If they don't, Wonderboy is a good step. If they do, then sure book him vs Burns.

I'd argue his best win at WW is actually Burns. Burns has just been juggernauting everyone else at WW not named Usman. And proved how dangerous he is even to Usman with how he stunned him round 1 in their fight. I respect Colby's ability to fight and think he's real good too. But slightly behind current day burns to me, who is the second most potent fighter at 170 outside of potential unproven prospects in my eyes. Since he stopped killing himself to make LW and moved up we've really seen how dangerous burns really is. And Usman put him down where almost everyone else in the division wilts to him. Burns bulldogs guys similarly to how Khamzat does.
The same burns who barely beat a well past his prime wonderboy? Same burns who failed at lw? How’s that similar to khazmat(who is actually dominating opposition) ?

Yes.
I figured he was another hype train soon to be derailed, but what he did the Jingalingdingdong was like a lion playing with a raccoon.

That was scary folks.

The only thing I can really remember from the old days close to this was maybe Brock during his initial run.

Somewhat surprised to not see Shane Carwin mentioned in here. His run outside and then inside the UFC leading up to the Lesnar fight was pretty nuts. The two wins over Gonzaga and Mir made him look unstoppable

They have Khamzat ranked 5th or 6th in the division now and were putting him in a number 1 contenders bout vs Leon before he caught the Covid. Of course they are fast tracking him.

Robert Whittaker is a failed welterweight. Guess he'd never be good enough to win MW gold then eh? I'm talking exclusively about his time at WW where he's only lost to 1 man who is named Kumaru Usman and has an overall record of 12-1 when he is fighting at 170 lbs. Yes Khamzat's performances by comparison not comparing outside factors are more dominant. But he's also not fighting top 10 fighters yet. If he does the same thing to opponents who burns has fought or of similar level then sure we can talk. But until he does, all i'm doing is comparing their approaches and ability to get W's with similar approaches. Wonderboy is known to make wrestlers struggle to look great against him, even at his age. Stop being so emotionally invested.

Coby isn't Marty's best win lol, Coby is overrated.

Usman would be champ/top 3 in the previous GSP-led welterweight division that was full of killers. Coby wouldn't crack the top 10.

Umm no. Mendes(who was on short notice) fight showed that his cardio was sub par and his ground game was average at best .Infact i would say he looked unbeatable before the Mendes fight.

I knew Conor was done for (in terms of being some supposed GOAT) once USADA bannded IVs lol.

His greatest single ability was cutting weight, which I guess is kind of a skill. Once he lost the right to use IVs he was forced to move up, and has gone just 3-4 in half a decade. I saw this coming a mile away. Any decent fighter can look like a god when they're simply bullying "midgets" (his word, not mine)...

he must be once in a generation talent because his training partners are really bad

Kamaru’s best win is a kickboxing bout with Colby Covington who got bloodied by Damien Maia prior. It’s soon going to look foolish we ever considered Usman p4p #1

Kamaru's best win was over Gilbert Burns who actually knows how to finish a fight.

I think he's fighting at 170 because he wants to be a three division world champion.

I also think he can do it.

LHW?
I guess he has a chance but, apart that is pure fantasy at this point, I highly doubt it.

They say Khamzat suffers when is forced to back up in the feet, and LHWs would definitely test that

I watched a Darren Stewart interview when he was talking about training at All Stars and he was saying that he throws Gus and Latifi around in training, which is pretty nuts.

He is a beast for sure. I just have such a hard time envision someone becoming three division champ in modern mma.

Me too, but I think if anyone can do it then someone like him who's ridiculously strong in the division he's in and ridiculously powerful has the best chance. When you watch him brutally one shot MW's like Ikram and GM3 is it that much of a stretch to imagine him KOing a LHW if he connects?
