Agreed! Not sure if you're seen this piece on him from BT Sport, prior to his last fight. Well worth a watch anyway!

I like the mentality he has, the way he thinks. He doesn't say, "I want to be champion." It isn't enough for him to be champ, he says, "I want to be the best fighter in MMA." That is a goal that is higher than being champion, and if you're meeting that goal, or you're even close to meeting it, the belts will come with it. It says a lot of his confidence, and where he believes his talent and skill can take him. I can think of plenty of fighters saying that they want to be a champion, but very few who come out and say that they want to be the very best fighter in the sport.

This age thing is over exaggerated on Sherdog. Most of top WW’s right now are around 35.

Wonderboy 38
Masvidal will be 37 in 10 days
Burns 35
Usman 34
Magny 34
Colby 33
Chiesa will be 34 in less than a month

Athleticism doesn’t necessarily win grappling exchanges. Ngannou is more athletic then Stipe, yet Stipe dominated him in their first fight
You must be in extreme denial of how much more explosive, faster, and stronger you were when you were in your late 20's as opposed to mid 30's. Every human body has a prime where they are the closest to their peak potential. This is a finite period for all of us. You don't eternally develop speed, strength, exploviness, power, cardio athletecism forever. Yes you can get better at technique, but your speed, power, cardio and athletecism diminish as you age. Prime for average male is 27-33 years old where your technique and power combine to make you your best physical you.

You’re in a denial, not me. You stick to this “prime” dogma, ignoring the facts that disprove this theory. If we go by your logic, basically all of top fighters and champions in UFC are out of their prime. Also you’re wrong about strength and cardio as well. Cardio develops over long period of time and peak at late 30’s and early 40’s. Strength peaks in mid 30’s as well. Only things that starts to diminish a bit in early 30’s is speed and explosiveness. But that doesn’t determine who’s the best fighter, otherwise Johnny Walker would’ve been the champ and not Glover.
