Media Khamzat has no aura left.... Kamaru: You build him up, then you go in there and you go 'that guy wasn't special'

Bruh... Everybody just wants to gloss over the fact that the reason Khamzat took it down three notches and let Kamaru get his groove back a bit in rounds 2 and 3 was because he injured his hand... And even then Kamaru didn't manage to do all that much against an injured Khamzat.

lol he ragdolled Usman lile he’s never been before. He’s just hating because he got smashed

40 year old man with no knees, he doesn't get prime Usman down once. I could probably take down Randy Couture at this point, but I'm not gonna claim GOAT status.

If you have to add an extra 5 years to inflate his age and make a baseless hypothetical claim, you have a very weak point, bud.

Khamzat seems like a grappling version of McGregor; absolute hell on wheels in the first round, but once you weather that storm, he’s vulnerable and flawed just like anyone else. I’m in the minority that believes that Bo could potentially work him right now. He’s a naturally bigger guy with superior wrestling credentials who appears to have legitimate hands. The only part that gives me pause is that Khamzat is a dangerous striker particularly early in the fight.
Perfectly stated.

Only thing not left after that fight: usmans reputation as a wrestler!

Man was ragdolled

He had a full camp for Leon and wasnt moving up a weight to fight a guy whos been bulking for a year for the weight jump
The whole short notice narrative is played out.

Ali and Usman have been preparing for an inevitable clash with Khamzat for over 2 years. He has been training with Burns for this match up and he went into the fight 185 jacked af. He went into the fight fully expecting to win, thats why he was so disappointed in himself afterwards. Short notice was the perfect built in excuse though, smart play by his team.

Khamzat's aura will be back the moment he signs a fight and all the buildup starts up.

You may be right, but it’s worth noting that Jones was a Juco National Champ with a pending full-ride to Iowa State, which he had to turn down after getting his girlfriend pregnant. Essentially, he was on the same trajectory as DC, Cain and Brock who all did Juco stints before going D-1. Make no mistake, anyone who gets a full-ride offer to wrestle for a top 3 program is a championship caliber wrestler, so it doesn’t surprise me that he was able to neutralize a much older DC.

And gsp out wrestled many great wrestlers with no real wrestling experience

Burns EVISCERATED Khamzats aura. Pre Gilbert Khamzat was a two division champ, never absorbed a significant strike. Now he spends more time on Twitter calling for fights while not fighting <Lmaoo><Lmaoo><Lmaoo><Lmaoo>

Well given that Kamaru got grapplefucked in the first and then threw one punch and one leg kick for the remainder of the fight, if Khamzat is nothing special then that tells more about Kamaru than anyone else.

I don't believe Khamzat is this invincible new phenom, but Usman sounds like he's deluding himself.

He wasn't special and something he hasn't seen before? Remind us again, when was the last time an opponent repeatedly took him down at will, took his back and man handled him for long periods of time like the first round? Other than Edwards taking his back on a reversal, nobody had done that to Usman before and it indicated that Khamzat is "as advertised" just like Usman stated right after the fight.

But didn't usman say that he could end up being that guy in the future if he learns to manage his energy better?

I don't know what Usman is smoking. But Khamzat controlled you and ragdolled you for the whole first round. That's never happened before in his whole career. You can even add all the times Usman has been controlled or ragdolled in his whole fight career and it still will not equal to that first round domination by Khamzat. Khamzat simply gassed out after that, I believe with better cardio or be able pace himself better he'll be quite an animal to deal with.

Absolutely right. I’d just offer that Bo is very recently removed from wrestling competition on the world stage so conventional wisdom would suggest that his chops are a bit fresher than DC’s were in 2015.

Yes of course, and if they ever where to wrestle in str8 up wrestling, Bo would destroy him, different level, Bo is a u23 world champion at 92 kg....but in MMA at this point, Khamzat has been in there with the far better competition, while Bo hasn't cracked an opponent from the top30 yet...Cody according to tapology is ranked 53 in the world.....way to early for Bo to even think about a guy like Khamzat, don't get me wrong, he can get there pretty fast, but not now.

Hard to say anything when a guy breaks his hand in the middle of the fight. I know people will say 'well so and so broke their arm and still looked good' etc, but I don't think its fair to compare like that. Same injuries can feel different and have a different effect at any given moment. Fighters fighting through that stuff is the exception, not the norm. I feel like people are seriously underestimating these kinds of injuries and how they can completely affect the outcome of a fight. A broken hand for a grappler is huge.

Usman can say what he wants, but that first round was absolutely unlike anything he's ever seen, he was ragdolled and completely defenseless for 5 minutes. He did look confident in the next 2 rounds, but again, Khamzat says he broke his hand, so who knows what would have happened and if Usman would still be as confident
