But for arguments sake let’s your right, it’s still irrelevant because Rountree got turned into a bloody mess and crumpled against the cage, therefore making all previous rounds add up to the square root of fuck all.

He landed exactly two shots of consequence, and one of them is even debatable (when Pereira spun himself around and Roundtree almost punched him in the back of the head). Pereira jumped right up and looked unphased.

And I'm sorry but that headkick at the end of round 2 is not enough to steal the round.

I understand what you are saying, but we have seen a KD steal or seal a round for a fighter even if he was numerically out struck.

Even if Periera recovered, it was still a KD via strike which is inherently damaging.

That kick still scored big time even if Poatan ate it.

I would say he got at least one of those rounds.

I could agree with Pereira losing round 1. It was a very close round. I still think Roundtree coming in, swinging for the fences and hitting mostly air wouldn't win him a round in boxing, and in that sense it's uneducated MMA judges giving him the round. That was basically a striking match between the two fighters, so boxing scoring is much more applicable to those rounds.

MMA judges tend to be uneducated when it comes to the striking. Shoe-shining still works to a degree in MMA, where it clearly shouldn't. That's just down to judge education.

I'll have to rewatch it and pay more attention, I thought Khalil had good success with his blitzes particularly at the end of those blitzes in Rd 1 and 2.

I'm surprised Khalil Rountree of all fighters was able to stand up with him. If his cardio was better I wonder what that fight would have looked like...

Pereira was putting pressure all the time and Roundtree had to move a lot and throw combos to not get trapped on the cage, but he get tired and couldn't continue to do for more than 2 rounds and half.

Remind me Strickland vs Abus Magomedov, where Abus give his all on the first round, won, but gass out on the second and get koed

I mean ya that's just silly to say he hits harder than Ngannou.

He's just very efficient with his punches. They don't have a lot of tell or wind up, and they hit very hard. I mean he popped Roundtree with a jab and backed him up to the cage. That is some serious power, but it's a different kind of power.

He was getting touched for two rounds but if you have eyes you can see Khalil slowing down after one. Use your brain

Kalil landed less, and missed more. I'm glad he was able to fool you, but not everyone was fooled.

Either way, Alex came patient and prepared for a 5 round fight, and Khalil went as hard as he could in the first two rounds...

Pretty much, Roundtree was cleary having to work FAR harder to stay in the fight. Something like Cain/Werdum comes to mind as well were Cain arguably won the first round but had to work his ass off to do it.

When your fighting at altitude especially as those matches were then making your opponent work hard is generally a good tactic, would not be surprised if Alex held back from taking as many risks because he knew he would win the cardio war.

i think the third was a toss up as well. i gave it to pereira because of how dominant the last 30 seconds or so were, but it was damn near even overall. khalil fought his ass off.

it's possible. it was odd how suddenly he gassed in the 3rd. it just came out of nowhere.
