Khalil Rountree Jr's Oblique Kick ........

We've had more snapped legs & knees this year from regular low kicks than broken knees from oblique kicks in the entire history of the sport.
And people want to ban oblique kicks.

yes, because it takes zero skill to eye poke or headbutt someone.

people are going to immediately go to gouge an eye and that's it. the fight is over. nobody is going to let somebody with their eye gouged fight. headbutts will also get tons of fights stopped prematurely because of the very nature of headbutting. the only way it can stop fights is by cutting or swelling.

we have seen exactly ONE stoppage from the oblique kick.

Reread what I wrote, and reread your response.

Yours in not a direct rebuttal. You may think so, but it's not. You are not directly addressing the points.

Your logic is challenged.

One of the reasons that we haven't seen many oblique kicks used is that there exists sort of a "gentleman's/gentlewoman's agreement" about not using them despite them currently being legal. Similar to the old foot stomp unofficial agreement that has been broken by a few. Not a biggie to me on that. Do something so that can't be in a position to fuck with you like that.

Think about the FEW oblique knee kicks thrown, and who threw them. Not the Sunday choir. Now, consider the HUNDREDS of fighters who have the ABILITY to throw oblique kicks to the knee all day, and CHOOSE NOT TO. Only a few known douches throw them, and the VAST majority of fighters DON'T. These are indisputable facts.

Then they can learn some Savate; the combat sport where everyone stomps each other in the knees in every fight, yet there isn't a knee breakage problem. The defence & counters exist and are widely used in another sport already, MMA fighters just need to go learn them.

All the guys saying "it's a fight" "less rules" etc.

Then why not groin kicks? I mean it's a fight right? You don't want to get kicked in the nuts then don't stand squared up or learn to check/catch the groin shot.

Legal move but just cheap. Kinda like pulsing PEDs two years after the fact.

Looks like a low side kick, not an oblique kick

Meh, move your leg. Usman's foot stomps though gonna have you tap dancin.

i don't get why people cry about this technique

what's wrong with it? how is it any different than going for a joint lock? too many ariel cuckweenies up in this bitch. in a real fight there is no honor or sportsmanship, it's just life or death. UFC is supposed to be about the best techniques for a real fight and not what looks pretty for you and your mom.

JUST BLEED
BANGKOK READY

Out of all the times we see this strike thrown, this was by far the most effective I have seen. If this was a recurring thing then maybe banning it should be considered, but a one time deal like this shouldn't cause the technique to be banned imo. Hope the guy recovers alright and I bet all of Rountrees future opponents will be thinking of this at least a little bit when striking with him.

Thats the logic you "what about cte you hypocrites" people use.

But in reality we don't need to cripple people just because theyre gonna get alzheimers in 15-20 years, so thats why all those things I listed are illegal and why oblique kicks probably should be too

Look folks. If it's ok to give your opponent severe brain trauma that we know leads to life long problems and you're ok with watching it. You don't really get to suddenly hold this against Khalil for using a legal technique that's been openly known to be perfectly legal for some time . All those arm bars at the start of the year that were snapping arms in half were pretty deliberate. You guys want to bitch and moan about the morality of those as well? It wasn't sporting to break his arm!!! Pussies.
